Why not Ziggs support?

The reasoning behind the recent Ziggs bot lane fad is his ability to first blood tower quickly with his passive, W and LB so wouldn't this also fit with Ziggs as support without losing your late game carry? Ziggs could Q the wave and let the ADC clean up for quick pushes, Caitlyn preferred I would think, and just keep putting damage on the tower until it goes boom!

I think I'll try it, most likely maxing W first to lower that god awful CD. The ADC would have to assist with early wards though and we know just how much they love to do that :P

Because Support itemizastion favors supports that can abuse item 3190 item 3107 right now and Ziggs wants heavy AP.

Also, his kit is obnoxious for the ADC since he ends up accidentally stealing all the farm with his incidental waveclear, and he provides little utility outside his E slow and knockback on W.

He just does better with the lane gold.

I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. However, a farmed Ziggs is going to reach LB a LOT faster than a support Ziggs. If the whole point is rapid tower pushing, Ziggs getting the farm is going to be more of a threat.

It only works if the ADC is on board with the meta.

I did a few games and if the ADC was "Ok lets push" we would get first turret get dragon and move to Mid and get mid turret. Meaning we won the game

But I had more then a few matches where the adc was "What is hits crap troll Ziggs taking my cs" and "I need farm dont get the turret"

Those ended in loses.

Ziggs actually want items in order to be effective. Support itemization really doesn't do much for him and his base damage don't really hold up the longer the game goes so you would have to get expensive AP items with a support income which unless you are getting a lot of assists you will have a hard time getting them

The reasoning behind Ziggs bot is that ADC is awful right now, and there are too many good support items Ziggs can't utilize.

I recently had a Ziggs support and it was the best support I've had in months. Some of that is due to the player, obviously, but his kit does have the potential. If you build support items on him early, you are less likely to steal kills or cs by accident, and can wait until mid to late game to build AP.

I've asked the same question and it's because Ziggs needs damage items to succeed and it's better for the rest of the team to have a Support with Support items since having at least one of each Support item on your team is really good, like Sightstone, Redemption, and Locket.

its not just his w, but also the ap scaling on his passive. its like a second lichbane proc, which allows him to poke the turret quickly into range to execute it.

cant scale that up when you can stack ap.
