Despite RiotWrekz confidence kindred was not handled well by the live team on the fundemental issues

I will say that it is nice that finally not only a rioter but the rioter behind kindred finally properly respond to one of the most long standing discontent that the kindred community had for the champ.

RiotWrekz restates a point that has been brought up repeatedly when kindred was in an overtuned and undertuned state. The overall swing of their balance was/is either strong enough to reliably get marks = too strong; not strong enough to contest marks = too weak; with basically not much of an in between (specifically saying they are balanced on a razors edge).

Also the hindsight desire to have made the marks scale at more gradual rate and be balanced around that. Much appreciation that the sentiment finally is properly seen.

We couldn't have let such a final admittance of a mess up go through without going back into the state we all know and love for the straight ignorance with discussing the design and balance of the champ. How can you say that the live gameplay team is "keeping an eye out and making sure they are reasonable for kindred mains" with the history of flat out ignoring the points that have been constantly repeated as the fundamental issue with the champ plus solution idea's that are in line with the hindsight desire of the rioter behind the champ. This champ has been out for a little over 2 years, and since that point of release there was even a mini update with riot ignoring the issues of the champ instead of addressing it.

Kudo's to you Wrekz on owning up to the points that kindred has some fundamental issues. Since this year riot intends to put more attention into fixing up champs that need the more dedicated attention through vgu's/gu's maybe this can be third times the charm for actually getting kindred right this year. It's the year of the dog, do it for wolf.

I kinda hope they remove her stacks but that's because I want to play her in lane. But as long as Kindred is good at all I would be satisfied.

I think you can leave the stacks like they are now, and do 1 of 2 things.

  1. Allow Kindred to cast ult on teammates again.

  2. Give Kindred back the kind of sustain she had when she first came out.

Option one makes it so that if she gets dicked on early, she has something to fall back on to potentially make a comeback play. Value outside of damage, something this game is sorely lacking.

Option two gives her more hp during early stages of the game so she has windows to invade and get in the face of enemy junglers, contesting scuttle and maybe invading. This way she may still feel like garbage if she doesn't get stacks, but she has a way to maybe get some of those stacks or if not stacks at least an edge in farm. Again, value outside of damage. Also high sustain combined with her E could make her a ganking marksman where Graves is more farm instensive. If she could gank go take a camp, then gank again at full hp, she'd have a window of viability outside of making her marks to easy to get.

These would make Kindred gated by skill and team play rather than hidden mechanics. The emphasis on damage is ruining the game. It's why Ardent and Tanks got so messed up. It's always something like, "Assassins don't do enough damage, tanks do too much damage, adc's don't take enough damage". Then we have the debacle we have now with new runes. I know really high value utility of any kind can be super annoying to play against, but it makes champs unique and fun. And it allows all kinds of champs to be viable in certain situation. Imagine if you put Taric on a team with Kindred when she had her original ult.

When League is an outplay puzzle and not a race to damage it functions much much better.
