We don't buff champs just because they're unpopular
Lux says hi. Liars.
Lux says hi. Liars.
Lux was buffed because people kept asking for buffs.
If anything she was buffed because she had a popular fanbase.
Champions aren't buffed because they're unpopular; they're unpopular because they need buffs.
You just provided the thesis to which my post is a counterexample...
Lux's buffs were mostly QoL, to be honest. The instant shield and detonation-in air both fit this category, and the Q changes were more consistency/readability than gameplay buff, although the decreased mana cost is nice. These changes made Lux's kit a lot more fluid and natural to use, which led to a spike in her winrate. She could probably use some nerfs (and some clarification on her ability indicators, Rito pls), but I would argue that the reason for the changes was to make her kit more consistent with the state of League today, not necessarily to add power.
Making it easier to use a skillshot basically like a point and click is not merely QoL. Now when you see her E throw animation you either flash instantly or accept the damage.
But if you were good enough, it was like that before, too. The changes didn't make her stronger, just easier.
lux wasn't really unpopular befor the buffs though...
Average pickrate, aka still less than 1/5th of the most picked ones
if champs would be buffed because of average pickrate, we would have 40+buffs each patch....
while i'm not sure for what ever reason lux was buffed, i'm 100% certain it wasn't because of her playrate...
