The stigma of pushing lanes
Okay, so there's already the stigma of warding, of dropping 250 gold for 1 ward per minute forever, but now there's the stigma of pushing lanes. Whenever I'm the support, I'm smashing my head against the keyboard in frustration from the ADC or any other damage dealer from simply. NOT. PUSHING THE LANES. The lane can be neglected for five full minutes and no one will push it. I will shout, nag, pester and command them to come with me and smash the turrets into oblivion, but they'll just basic attack the nearest jungle camp at their leisure until they decide to maybe come and possibly maybe probably no guarantees poke the turret. But by then I've already spent the past three minutes trying to push up to the turret as support and now all five enemy champions are descending on me like an unholy shit storm.
I'm infuriated. Whenever I support, no one wants to push a lane, and I end up being the lane pusher in our team. AS THE SUPPORT. Have you tried doing that with a utility mage or a tank? It is a daunting task. Whenever I'm the ADC, I am absolutely relentless when it comes to pushing lanes. The enemy won't leave me alone for more than a nanosecond, yet I will continue to push when I can. I will try to rally teammates who want to farm in the jungle all game with basic attacks to attack the turret with me.
Objectives win games. All the pentakills in the universe, all the barons, and all the dragons will not magically smash those turrets or destroy the inhibitors. I've seen people refuse to push lanes, refuse to defend, and insist on teamfighting, even if it's completely counterproductive, and giving up one turret after another without contest. I'm tired of trying to teach the ultra bare basics to people who have been playing this game more than long enough to know better, and I'm tired of rallying people who lack the morale to remain conscious for a second longer, much less attempt to actually push forward even the slightest sliver of effort.
