Playing vs Gnar with Glacial Augment is like playing with a broken controller

It's so much fun not being able to move and do anything.

Hes always had frozen mallet as a core item and its been that way for years, so dont start complaining about glacial augment as if its a new problem. Millions of players have had to deal with it and millions of players have found ways around it. I recommend you do the same.

He had to spend time and gold building it before. Now he doesn't have to. That is the difference. Its called critical thinking. I know its hard, but you can do it.

Lol? Calm down keyboard warrior. Your condescending, snarky attitude is pointless & unnecessary. You don't need to bully anybody to get your point across. The OP complained about feeling useless against Glacial Augment. *TIME within the laning phase isnt a factor in the post, but the problem of being slowed altogether. Hence the reason i wrote my original comment. So dont even try to say "No you dont understand, the problem is that now its a free rune you gain immediately." unless we're in your own post because thats a different problem completely. However, to respond to YOUR OWN problem: a 10 minute difference isn't game-breaking nor obscene. Gnar cannot all-in players early game until he gets some damage via phage or frozen mall. (Unless you let him freely harass you until youre low enough for him to jump on. So the glacial augment slow in early game only allows him to punish you harder if you over-extend. That, and buffing his roam/gank strength pre-frozen mall.

This statement from you sounds pretty condescending also... You are basically saying "everyone else can do you, why can't you?". You ignore the fact that what the poster is saying is Gnar gets a FREE frozen mallet type passive from the start of the game. Its one thing to know you have to deal with it later. Its another to have to deal with it from the gate.

Tell him how to deal with it please, that would be useful.

No part of it is condescending, the point of the quote is: Adapt. I'm saying that the on-hit slow has been core to Gnar's kit for years on end and everyone has had to deal with it. I'm saying that his problem isn't about Glacial Augment, it's about the on-hit slow and he needs to redirect it. Like writing a post about a game-breaking bug and publishing it in the story/art concept tab.

And what fact am I ignoring? The original poster says NOTHING about Gnar getting "a FREE frozen mallet type passive from the start of the game". Nothing in the original post mentions the words "free" or "start of the game". The title says: Playing vs Gnar with Glacial Augment is like playing with a broken controller". The body of the post says: "It's so much fun not being able to move and do anything." Where in that does he mention having a problem with it being a free passive? When does he discuss the time-frame of the game and when Gnar gains access to the passive? I'm not ignoring anything. You're just implying. You have an obvious problem with the rune and you want to argue about it. The only issue the original post describes is the on-hit effect slowing him to the point where he can't move or "do anything". Anything else after the fact is irrelevant because at this point you're arguing over the validity of my original comment.

It says in title "Glacial Augment". IF you do not know what that is, you should not post before looking it up. Having that at the start of the game makes him UBER oppressive. All you say is "adapt"....aren't you the all knowing guru...

Yes, I did quote the title. So there's no need to repeat that. I'm gonna repeat myself though, frozen mallet has the same effect and you can afford it 10-12 minutes into the game. That initial 10 minute lane-phase doesn't make or break anyone's game and you have yet to offer any viable counter-argument to that post. Give me something or stop wasting my time with your arguments on whether or not the OP was talking about your own issue.

uh... he said the problem was glacial augment or whatever. So, read the definition, bam. Now his implication by using a direct name has a definition and you can respond appropriately. I'm not responding to you again, but every response you've posted has needed some work. You're clearly just argumentative.

Yea that is what gets me too. Its a totally toxic combo and they are touting it blatantly. Makes me think they do not care about balance anymore. They just want those flashy LCS plays that make the announcers go "OOOOHHHHHH DID YOU SEE THAT?!?!?!"

Mianta1 votes

Nothing about an on-hit slow is flashy. If they wanted flashy LCS plays, they would be buffing champs who could offer that. Sorry to burst your bubble but your bias is showing.

Mianta1 votes

Yeah, people ask a lot of things. People ask to buff assassins back to the point where they could solo-carry games. People ask to buff adc's because they apparently don't do enough damage for their liking. People ask to buff tanks because they sometimes get shred by a fed ADC. Some people want Riot to make an FPS like Overwatch. Some people want their overpowered champ concept in the game. Some people who are stuck in bronze 5 think they know best about the game and blame riot for their own problems/mistakes. People like to think they know best about everything. There's a reason it's impossible to please everybody. There's a reason "open-mindedness", "humility", and "patience" are virtues. Just as many people have asked Riot to remove Frozen Mallet, many people have wanted Riot not to. So, what's my point? Stop complaining, and adapt. If someone has been complaining about frozen mallet since 2009 or since gnar came out in 2014, they just spent a LOT of time crying about it instead of adapting & learning how to deal with it. Are you that way? Is the OP gonna be that way about Glacial Augment? The auto-attack counterpart to Rylai's crystal is not going anywhere.

You could, ban Gnar...

You could, ban Gnar...

Or play him, right? Classic answers.

Its not a acceptable response to tell someone to ban a champion when they have issues against a champion. Maybe there are other answer, such as counters... such as irelia.

So the next question could be, is even irelia getting stomped by what used to be a direct counter for her?

Can you take glacial on another champion and counter gnar?

Anyways, a more constructive post would be nice instead of trolling.

Riot broke him and put a video out on using him with this rune. Its disgusting. Something people have complained about for a while. Instead of fixing it, they give it to him free and rub it in our faces. you are right on the "ban" thing not being a solution. Riot needs to fix these champs.

Yeah, i mean its preseason, so shit will happen. I'm sure there are all sorts of crazy balance issues. Lots of champs got shit on, mana junglers virtually can't do anything anymore. Lots of the champs I was playing suddenly just feel terrible. Thats to be expected, or should be, with a system like this and an overnight change. Well... kinda there is pbe but I guess- I guess I would expect more. lol

There are 100+ champs though, I don't even know how they are going to balance this moving forward. We may always have champions that are nuts. Which has also been a thing, I mean there have always been top tiered champs and so on. The nice thing is that they constantly swap around from patch to patch. The negative is that they are mostly always the same groups of champions.

I feel like they've been modernizing to fix that as well, upgrading champs.

My biggest gripe is the matching system currently, has been for years.

I would agree with your comments on balancing if this didn't keep getting worse. The Frozen Mallet gnar thing is something people have been complaining about for some time due to how oppressive it makes him. Instead they make it worse. Riot is going down the tubes for their ESports.

I mean, it's pretty solid advice to ban something that counter's what you're playing, that's what most people do.
