Why buy potions when you can buy dorans shield?

Doran's shield was nerfed for a reason - certain champs can take advantage but in general i never see the advantage over the blade/ring.

In all seriousness, the only strong thing about Doran's Shield is when it's used in conjunction with Vampirism and Warlord's Bloodlust.
When playing against this item though, all you have to do, is deal 30 damage over what they dealt to you. That's LITERALLY it. Also it's totally a lie that it saves you every time you base. Why is that a lie you ask? Because it only heals for 30 health total every time you take damage from a champion. It doesn't scale, EVER.
Also it costs 400g so how could it save you 100g every time you go back to base lol.

Real talk, shield feels a bit overtuned to me, but potions are still crucial. I mean, it doesn't make you actually immortal.
