I spent years jungling....
YEARS jungling. Been a jungle main, and basically jungle one-trick ever since I started playing. Got to gold 5 as a jungle main. I was SO DAMN PROUD to hit gold 5.
Only took like.... THOUSANDS of games. (700ish last season alone.)
Never really tried anything else. Never wanted to. I was a jungler, and I was arrogant about it. "JG role is best role." "Blame your jungler, so you don't have to accept the fact that you suck and just got carried."
I was a PROUD jungler. Wore that shit like a badge.
But then I got tired of it. Felt like I had smacked into a ceiling at gold 5. Silver 1. Gold 5. Silver 1. Gold 5...... Couldn't budge.
Finally laid down my machete and my talisman, and gave them a heartfelt, tearful goodbye. Remembered all the years fondly, from the days of basically walking around with Oracles Elixer as a ward bot, to Spirit of The Ancient Golem, to Cinderhulk being the newest, latest, and greatest....... til today.
I wiped my eyes. Sniffled.... and just left my jungler items laying there on the ground.
Goodbye old friends...
And I picked up my relic shield, reluctantly assuming my new identity. That was about 2 weeks ago. And now I'm getting 24 LP per game in Gold 2, winning 80% of my games, and currently on track to skip Gold 1 entirely and go straight into my plat promos.
Its almost bittersweet. On the one hand, i'm climbing. VERY quickly. But on the other hand.... I feel like I left an old friend behind.
