Taking Kills From Your Mismatched ADC

So, say you queue up, go support, play a champ you know you can do TONS of support with but also can carry with in case things go south, depending on your own performance. Now let's say you get an ADC who really is just mismatched - can't perform well at his role, whether it's a new role, champ, or just a whole different level of play than he's used to - and only ends up dying when he pushes. Maybe you even have a higher CS than him and you've only been smacking minions when relic shield stacks were up.

What are our thoughts on either securing the kills for the jungler or ourselves as supports, if we feel the ADC won't be able to do much even with a gold lead?

The only time I don't throw everything at an enemy is when it's a VERY obvious kill for a team mate that is close by. I have had so many enemies get away because I was waiting for the ADC (or other) to last hit them with 1% health that it just became ridiculous. And that's because I kept listening to ADCs tell me to not take their kills. TEAM GAME. If you can't get it, I will. And in anything more chaotic than a 2v1, I'm gunning for the enemy just like you. Can't get kills back when they run away.

Exactly, they will get an assist anyway so it's not like they won't get gold for it. As long as you aren't taking kills that are obviously already secured then it's not that big of a deal.

Toxic ADCs will cry no matter what you do, because if things aren't going their way they revert to their 2-year old self. That's not your responsibility.

I'm not so certain about this. I'm a terrible ADC player; I can't CS with ranged champs, I don't know how to position in teamfights, and I can't kite for shit. And yet I've had games where because my support was good and my team peeled for me, I got really fed and shredded through the enemy team (despite playing like a monkey).

Unless your ADC is irredeemably awful, you should still make an effort to help him out.

Is it really worth the gamble though? If you've got enough time in the game where you know you can actually carry if you secure your own kills, but it's probably going to be 50/50 if your ADC gets your kills instead, what are you going to opt for personally?

I've had bad games where I've recovered, too. I've also had bad games where I just got stomped and couldn't do ANYTHING as an ADC.

Meh. Do you want us to get on your account and play instead of you? If someone sucks so bad and a support doesnt see a potential in him, he should just take the kill.

Seeing the enemy walk away with 5 health because support was trying to give the kill to adc who is unable to take it, is waaaaay worse then seeing support take the kill.

It's a tough call. I had some kills get away waiting for the ADC. No longer do I wait, once I've committed, then I leave it up to the ADC to follow up and get the kill. I've found that the better the ADC is, the more this isn't a problem because they are right there with me. Lesser ADCs seem to hang back, so I never feel bad taking the kill. As I become better I assume this will be less of an issue.

Not sure how this "higher cs" part is supposed to work unless the ADC is afk or didn't learn yet how to last hit for gold. xD

I've had games where I went higher CS as tahm kench with relic shield because my ADC waited in brush for me to set up plays all game. Started just taking everything for myself.

Sounds like you should teach him because he is probably level 1.

I usually try to give him kills, but if I see he's useless I'll just take the kill
