Why it is so easy for people to give up?

Seriously, I am getting tired of people who, on the first misplay/enemy ace/enemy first blood/enemy taking dragon or baron/enemy gank, start to say that the battle is over, even when they actually have the advantage.

There are some games that are obviously over. For example, enemy team has 10 kills, your team has only one, enemy team got the 2 first dragons and they already destroyed the tier 2 mid and tier 1 bot; if your team is early game focused, then it doesn't matter if you try to hold until late, because you will be outscaled anyway. However, situations like this are rare, and on pratice, most games can be won if you don't just give up.

Nobody is perfect, not even Faker is, and everyone can make mistakes, but if you give up and starts to rage and let your team fall to toxicity and fights, then you shouldn't complain that your teammates are holding you down.

It is also really boring when someone on your team spams /ff everytime it is avaliable just because they lost the will to play.

I seriously want to know how to deal with situations where my team starts to give up on games where we can still potentially win. I don't know if this happens very often on NA, but on the BR servers, it is common for teams to give up easily after one or two misplays.

I believe that LS (Last Shadow) actually addressed that in one of his videos. I will not quote him, but he basically said that people dont know how to play from behind. If they dont have an advantage, they are totally lost, cannot adapt, same build and same playstyle no matter what. Thats why you see people going 0/10/0 because they just play like they are ahead. Look at scores in lower elo's. People either stomp or get stomped, nothing in between. So if they don't have an advantage, if they are not ahead, they rather surrender.

While I don't disagree, There is a difference between being behind... and the game being FUBAR.

Some people don't understand the difference. Coming back from an early ace or a 10 min "0/2/0 + T1 dead" in a lane is one thing.

Having every lane lose and even the enemy support so fed you can't 1 v 1 them with your carry... is another... :P

I've gotten stuck in a number of games like this w/ 2 or more people who won't ff and it is by FAR the most annoyed this game has ever made me!

People say that they want to "work on they're plays" or "You get less IP for FF!" or some such dibble... How can you work on plays when every member of the enemy team has 3 -4 levels on you, and can delete you in 1 - 3 seconds? Is 20 IP really worth another 10 to 20 minutes of banging your face into a wall? Some people are just masochists I guess. :P

Shrug... Do you know how happy I would be if I was ever good enough at this game to win despite "every member of the enemy team has 3 -4 levels on you, and can delete you in 1 - 3 seconds?" O.o Point being: I honestly don't believe that any game is ever beyond hope. People don't know how to play from behind. Why? Because as soon as they decide the game is "FUBAR" they surrender. Just stop crying and play it out... You might get better at playing from (hopelessly?) behind and win more games than you think... I know I do... And I'm not even good at the game! XD (mid-Plat atm)

It's just numbers if a game is at this point. In a classic JRPG, go to a lvl 20 zone at lvl 5, you get knocked down. :P

The ONLY way you can hope to recover in a game that far gone is for 2 people to DC. :P

Well that's not true at all... There are people behind those numbers... and people are stupid... myself being a prime example! Mistakes will be made I guarantee it! XD Just the other day I played a Ranked 5s with my family (which is a scary thing to do btw) all of us sitting in the same room and the internet goes out for a full 5 min just 10 min in... We won that game... Why? Because the enemy team didn't know how to finish and kept making stupid mistakes! Threw so hard... XD (I come from a family of stubborn assholes so we make a lot of comebacks :P)

It's always been the opposite for me!

People who won't ff even when down by 30 kills, 4 towers, 20k gold, ect!

And it's usually the hardest feeders who vote no! :P

You don't know what is going through your top laners head, nor do you know his skill, or experience with his champion or against the other champion.

It's easier to be on the outside oblivious to why another person on your team is flipping out, but chances are they are on a tilt, or recognize the current game as another one he lost and his hope just shatters.

This isn't really something that requires great fathom, just be supportive and encourage anyone who is in distress, no reason to go beyond that.

I honestly get people not having fun, and that's when I surrender and I say that it isn't fun if I /ff.

Outside of not having fun, the only other time I throw up the surrender box is if people are no where close to being on the same page. If three people say "Let's group up" and one person farms the jungle and another person is trying to split push and it's been like that for the last five minutes with no communication from the players 4 and 5, I can't work with it and I don't want to play anymore.

That's me though. I always thought being behind was fun and often gave myself handicaps in games when playing so when I got rid of them it felt great.

It's easy to give up. It's much harder to win.

Actually I disagree on the down 10 kills thing... Once I was in a game where it was something ridiculous like 16-47 or something. We all fed (including me) but we literally played one teamfight absolutely perfectly, and then won. Nobody could believe it. Never give up guys. Never.

Well, it is possible to happen such a situation... but on 99% of time, games like this tend to be absolute defeats. If you still managed to win this, then congratulations, but on such an extreme situation I wouldn't blame a team for wanting to give up. Other than that, though, giving up is almost always a bad idea.

I've played games where we were down a ton of kills, but had one teammate who was doing well, then played a teamfight or two perfectly and come back from a "lost" game. Or at least made them take three Barons and six dragons before they could finish us.

unless youre playing ranked to rank up you should surrender because of the way matchmaking works,. You HAVE to lose about 50% of your games. i would rather surrender and lose and get it over with and get into a game that is fun. even if theres a decent chance at a comeback, i would rather get a loss and be one loss up on the system.

I have a hard time understanding this mindset.

  1. The implication, even if it is unintended, is that only wins are fun.
  2. If that's true and everybody thinks that way, then almost every game should end in a surrender (except very close games) and only rarely will anybody get the satisfaction of actually earning a victory.

I can't think of a better way to MAKE the game unfun.

This is true. I can't judge anyone because sometimes I do just wanted to surrender to get the game over with. People who give up just aren't interested into the current game anymore for some reasons you mentioned above. Idk the exact way to deal with situations like this, some people are just brick head, you can't knock your reasoning over what they're thinking (it's a negative thing).

I think it's just in ranked. I've started ranked in the last few days, and I haven't seen more snowbally games in my life.
