Why is it that we can't have AOE spell vamp...

But every form of magic damage in this game (with the exception of magic damage from items) procs Liandry's? I honestly don't know why AOE spell vamp would be overpowed when we have other AP items that are almost a staple on ANYONE with magic damage.

Because AP is usually about burst damage, not sustained. And AoE spellvamp exists, it's just toned down compared to single-target spellvamp because you can heal a lot off minion waves.

And Liandries procs go off current health, so it softens people up but doesn't outright kill them (good against softening tanks so your adc can shred them a bit easier).
