Why am I losing so much lp ?
Every ranked win I get, I gain 13 lp and every loss, I lose no less than 20 lp. Why is this happening and how can I fix it ? Its impossible to climb with this foolishness.

^^ said it. your mmr is lower than everyone else in that divsion
Your MMR is lower than the average expected MMR for players in your division. Your MMR will continue to tank unless you improve your play! 913 MMR
http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=XelNiya
This means your MMR is lower than the division expects, so when you lose you drop quickly.
So, I won 15 games in a row in my division, went up a few teirs, but when i broke my streak i lost literally 50 LP, what the heck is up with MMR.
As others have said that happens when your MMR is lower than the division you are currently in. The reverse is true if you are gaining more than you are losing.
How MMR changes and or what makes your MMR increase only a select few people with Riot actually really know. So the only answer I have as to how to fix it is to play more games? I assume MMR is sadly drastically determined by your W/L again no one really knows and to what extent. If you keep winning or if you maintain a 60ish% W/L I have to assume your MMR will balance out to your current tier.

Well that's not gonna happen. I've been thinking though. What if I throw games until I'm back in B5 so my MMR would be in sync again ? You think that'll fix it ? Winning streaks in rank only come for me on lucky days and those are quite rare.

I would suggest just playing normally. If you win great, if you dont then you will keep moving down. Don't worry about your MMR really. I always keep my foil hat on when I talk about it. Its basically the same things as Aliens.
But really. Just play normally. Eventually things will work themselves out. Plus by throwing games you have to remember that you are potentially throwing and are greatly contributing to an LP loss for the other 4 people on your team. In a reverse scenario you certainly wouldn't want that to happen to you.

I hope so because this has been going on for quite a while now. Its kinda frustrating to be quite honest.

Well, it doesn't really take that much to throw a game in Bronze. I get what you're saying though.
Oh ok....Thanks fellas.
cuz ur mmr super low.
LP rubberbands to MMR.
If your MMR is lower than the division you're in should be it's much, much harder to climb because if you win 50% of games against people lower division that you, you should be at the same division as them.
Only way to break it is to maintain a higher than average winrate. Win streaks also go a long way towards improving MMR.

Well this is next to impossible for me. Its not like a 1v1 game where you can cheese a few games to get a win streak. Win-loss is entirely luck dependent for me.
I guess I'll drop back down to B5 eventually and it'll even off that way.
I hate to be, "that guy," but wins /losses shouldn't be luck dependant for you. If you're winning 50% of your games that means you've found your correct MMR and your rank just hasn't caught up with you yet.
You WILL lose about 45% of your games. You WILL win about 45% of your games.
What happens in the remaining 10%... Those close matches that could go either way? Those are what determine if you climb.
My best advice would be focusing on how you won, and how you lost each game and not worrying about rank. Improve your gameplay and rank will follow.

Currently my winrate is around 50% but with this imbalance in the way I gain and lose ip means I will be dropping over time but its agonizingly slow.
But thanks for the advice.
MMR =/= Rank
If you're winning about 50% of your games your MMR shouldn't be changing.

Well this is the million dollar question....How did this happen.
I literally won 16 games in a row and my MMR is still super low for my division, and when my streak was broken, I lost a literal 50 LP. [zombie-brand-facepalm] LIKE HOW!!!
ur mmr is lower and riot is trying to push you back a rank
what role do you play? me and two other friends are looking for solid top and support players we are not gods but we coordinate extremely well and either one of us is carrying or the other two simply cannot manage on the team. I am an adc, we have a mid, and jg. we know we can climb we just need to find the right people to play with consistently.

I'm kind of a 1 trick pony. I'm at my strongest when I play mid Azir. By some miracle, I have a 58 % win rate with him in ranked as of this post with a record of 48-34. I don't even know how I managed this feat but its nice.
I like to secondary as Top with Irelia. Though for some reason I'm not doing as well with her as I'm accustomed. But Irelia isn't my only top lane champ, only the one I've been most consistent with. Most of the champs I'm comfortable with are top lane and jungle champs. So my most diversified lane is the Top lane.
I can play support fairly well if my AD Carry can play a passive counter engage style. I excel at playing passively while waiting for the enemy to get impatient and thirsty and inevitable attempt risky plays for kills. I could be a good support if I can find and AD Carry that understands this.
TLDR;
Mid: Azir
Top: Irelia, Mundo, Garen, Aatrox, Vi, Sejuani (The last 3 I've haven't tested in top as of yet)
Supp: Sona, Nautilaus, Malphite
Feel free to add me if you like my resume. ;)
"LP rubberbands to MMR." but it should stop. In my case, and likely many others', it continues to drag you downwards without ever normalizing. This is a huge issue and it's surprising that Riot has never noticed and/or looked into it. This massive oversight is further exacerbated when you play champions which are not "hyper solo carry" champions which can win games on their own for the team. If you play champions like the ones that I play (and regardless of how well you play them) you'll end up losing more games than you're winning simply because you're only 1/5th of the team and cannot cover lacking/failing areas of the teamcomp/dynamic by yourself. So people end up playing champions which can win the game by themselves. << This isn't people picking effective champions for the game, they're picking champions which have an easy time soloing the game, every game.
Would be nice if your lp gain/loss were somewhat tailored by your champion selections. Playing Riven, for instance, would net you less lp gain for winning, more for losing. Playing the more team-dynamic oriented champions (which rely on their peers to do their job well) would net you greater lp gains for wins, and less lp losses for a loss. To me, this would be very fair and should be looked into. It's a little disgusting to see a handful of the same picks every game, and then groan at how easy the game will be for them just because their picks are easier to carry a whole team with.
I won't go into a list of champions named to be a little to easy to win games with.. but give this some thought. I'd like to be just a little less punished for not picking the mainstream cheese champs all the time, especially when I do well at my own role and lose because of someone else's that I cannot deal with because of the role that I picked <<
Thanks
Okay, I climbed out of Bronze from 3 to Silver 5 pretty fast. Im in demotion prevention, i gain 14ish lp or less per win lose 20 lp per loss. My mmr is below where my rank is. The main thing is about climbing is you cant always carry the game. and when your team feeds and flames each other its kinda hard to carry idiots and morons. The Lp system has to be fixed. Instead of getting to 41 lp half way up the ladder of the division then lose 2 games and go to 1Lp, its just not worth playing ranked if Riot gives the players such a deficit for Losing games. Riot should implement something that will fix the Ladder/Elo system. Im tiered of busting my ass to climb up the ladder just to be pushed back down because one or two players decided it was a good idea to complaing flame each other or go 0/9/0 before laning phase ends. Your Lp loss and gain should be compared to you Champion rating. Say you lose the game but you got a B+ or higher. you shouldnt lose 1/3rd your LP instead you should be rewarded by losing 1/10th your LP riots systems has to be fixed badly. (and i wish you guys at riot would listen to your community and not focus on the LCS players. Not everyone can play 10+ hours a day)
lol it's been a year since I made this thread. I've learned a lot about how the LP system works since that time. Appreciate the response still though.
Yea, I think League is broke too but not the LP system. I think feeders are given far too much say in the outcome of a match. I think kill gold should be lower. As it is now the game snowballs way too fast. A single feeder is more than enough give a team a sure defeat.
The LP loss of a game should coincide with how well you played. if you go 13/5/10 you should lose less LP. if you go 0/13/10 You should lose max LP. riot is just lazy in this. So if feeders have so much say in the game riot should have a block list on KDA's of players. if your not over a certain kda you can play ranked untill you bring you kda up in normals. riot just doesnt think outside the box when it comes to the community, just the pro players since they make the money, Not to mention the millions of players who spend money on RP so i think riot should take better care of the Non pro players.

I’m having the same issue but my MMR is at my rank
I managed to get to gold, but my MMR is literally 600. If I lose, then I pretty much lose 100 LP. I can feel that.
