"Hexdrinker is so OP, mage items suck in comparison to it!"
Meanwhile in the actual game, there are all of two AD midlaners above 50% winrate, and Hexdrinker isn't even above 50% winrate as a purchase for them.

NERF HEXDRINKER!
The boards are filled with so many of these players
and
me? Im an adc main who thinks AP champs are favored in mid :3
As a mage main, here's where I think the huge disconnect is.
AD mids suck. Period. It's because they bring no utility to their team and in solo queue utility is huge. Hell, even in competitive utility is super strong. The best 4 mages in the game (Taliyah, Syndra, Ori, and Cassio, in no particular order), as well as the top 10 winrates in solo queue almost all have large amounts of CC in their kits.
The only assassins in top 10 winrates for mids are Talon and Katarina. Then you have Karthus Malzahar ASol TF... you get the point.
If you're packing only damage, getting an early Hexdrinker negates that by not giving you an effective amount of damage for 1300 gold, making it only a good buy on Corki because he scales up better anyways.
The issue with Hexdrinker is when it's thrown on a champion who is tankier (or even Riven for that matter), as well as ADCs, it becomes particularly hard for mages to blow them up and so it feels like they're far less useful and more vulnerable. Especially when they go in and the AD has so many tools to stop them but the AP feels powerless to do so. This is extremely common vs. Lucian or Trist since they'll run you down if they get fed.
That's a pretty loaded argument considering there are only 2 really prominent AD mids right now (I would have thought Kayn would be a mainstain, but nope, just Talon and Zed still.)
Interest so let me get this right...
Top is either a tank or AD bruiser.
Jungle is tank, AD bruiser, assassin or
Bot is ADC and a support. Sometimes a mage support
Mid is most AP but now some AD are starting to be playing again and we are complaining about Not enough AD????
holy carp batman. Its almost like Mid is the only "real" good spot for AP mages and you want to take that away? I see you want all the mages to go support with ad assassins staring mid.
Maybe instead of taking away mages really only spot you should be making the case for assassins to be able to go bot or in the jungle and share mid with mages.
but I'm sure you, Rito, and Ghostcrap will be happy once mages are removed or all moved to fight for the support role.
53.03%
51.84%
48.88%
47.89%
Shocking. Half of the AD Mids are above 50% win rate, 50% are below. A percentage that's incredibly similar to their AP Counterparts.
