When I say Darius needs a rework/buffs people say he's fine and I play him wrong

I know how to play Darius, I don't play him how you play him or the way people think he should be played.

I don't purchase Ravenous all the time, I don't feel the need to get it.

I don't go CDR on him all of the time, sometimes in blinds I don't want to risk being against a Ryze so I go the standard runes and masteries.

I don't always build a damage item first because of the enemy team comp and what's going on in the game.

Is this really so hard to understand? It's not that I don't play him right which means he doesn't need a rework/buffs it's that I don't play him the way people think he should be played all the time.

Ravenous is your main damage and sustain on Darius. He more than likely needs the damage early on. After that you build tank because ravenous is almost always the only damage you need. He has innate armor pen meaning that your best bet is to bait out his kit or you die.

If you don't rush some kind of damage item you are basically building him wrong and suffering.

So I should rush Ravenous when 0-4? I should get ravenous when getting camped in lane by the jungler and my best bet is to get tanky in order to survive more ganks and turn them around?

Ravenous is not a core item, it's a good item but shouldn't be the only damage item.

I will typically only get a brutalizer then go full tank because my base damage is more than enough to make up for it.

You shouldn't be losing against the average top laner building a Ravenous. That is you playing him wrong. Ravenous gives him waveclear while not draining his mana pool as well as some nice burst damage for people you catch. Use your W as an AA reset and burst the hydra and thats around 300 damage just from auto's and at least 2 stacks of your passive on them.

I don't know what you start but your 2 main starts are: item 1054 item 2003 or item 1036 . You can go item 2041 with whatever 3 potions you want but I wouldn't recommend it unless you either plan to bully hard or need some real sustain.

Come to think of it the only person that really counters Darius is Quinn (and Ryze at higher elos).

If you are behind always rush defense best suited to the situation, but generally 1 kill behind doesn't equal enough to force this. If they have a significant farm advantage and 1-2 kills its time to build defensive. If the jungler camps your lane you need to ward and not push (no escape means you either blow flash or die).
