Mundo is so boring

I've played Mundo off and on since I started league. I love his theme and the fantasy of being an unkillable regen tank, but time and again I am turned off of him by how insanely monotonous he is to play.

His passive is completely non-interactive and BAD to be honest. It does next to nothing early game, negates health costs mid game, and finally kicks in late game when it isn't necessary because Sadism just overlaps it during team fights.

Infected Cleaver is actually a cool spell (and not just because it's a skillshot). Lets Mundo farm from range with some effort, acts as a good chasing tool, but it's his only source of damage. His other two basic skills are just farming tools that are useless late game because they have no consistent scaling.

This brings me to my main point. His skills do decent damage in lane while they're still scaling with level, but he does absolutely no damage late game, which is supposed to be his time to shine. I'm not saying all champs need damage, but he also lacks any hard cc. He just stands around in team fights, maybe tries to stick to a carry. It feels really shitty. You can't do anything.

tl;dr: Mundo is a slow farmer who takes forever to ramp up. As you watch your health bar increase, you also watch your damage decrease. Playing him feels useless and binary.

no damage? wut mundo does tons of damage. lategame with NO items he does about 200 dmg per second (after resists, to non-tanks) with his attacks and burning agony, and then cleaver spam on top of that

I hate to disagree on this but i must.

I practically only play mundo (in the last year (been trying to learn other champs recently ever since the tank meta)) and theres one thing about him that i have learnt.

Mundo is by far the highest damage dealing tank i have ever encountered, he has a crazy 4 sec CD on a 280 nuke which can deal 25% of current health. Fully skilled E gives him 100-200 AD, which is just insane when you look at most bruisers sit at ~190 or less when all is said and done. His W deals 95 damage per second. This is insane damage on a full tank. The thing that balances mundo out is that he needs (in order to use his skills) INSANE amounts of tankyness, I have often thought that he is more a bruiser than a tank, but instead of building damage he builds tank to offset his insane damage.

Mundo late game can solo any carry if played correct, and can hold up an entire team.

I often will go randy/sunfire+ SV+boots warmogs and then thornmail, with this build, there is 95% no adc that can 1v1 him (except kalista)

The reason i enjoy playing mundo is because he is all about finding the enemies mistakes, capitalizing on them underestimating your healing, or damage, flashing an important skill shot etc.. Mundo is so fun because playing him isnt just about mechanics, its 100% tactics. Also, mundo snowballs incredibly hard as a tank, if you can outplay early you become uncatchable in strength.

TLDR; Mundo has alot of depth in the strategy side of things, and if built to become a threat that cant be ignored (by building agro tank items (sunfire/thornmail)) he retains a CRAP ton of strength damage wise late game!

Also, when you say he doest do anything, mundo's job is to get into someones face and scream "DEAL WITH ME" you get on their AP carry and just wail on them, forcing someone to either peel or the APC to back off and kite you, forcing them out of the fight, then you can kill them or back off for another target. Mundo late game (with thornmail) can duel any AD character with ease, making his split pushes terrifying (insane waveclear+massive ad steroid (which makes him kill towers slow, but much faster then without)). In teamfights you can alos run up to their ADC and attack them too, most adc's wont build MR till SUPER late if at all, and your Q W E auto can often bring someone to 2/3's health in 1 second, by the time you get your 2nd Q up aagain, they will be 1/3, giving them the option of kiting you, running, or die right there and then, all the whie you are at massive amoutns of health. Mundo is about going where you please and forcing people to deal with it.

Mundo does no damage? Are you sure? Because I couldve sworn that I can 1v2 their mid and adc at any point beyond 25 minutes. I've started playing Mundo recently, and the amount of times I can wade into an entire team to initiate a fight, kill 2 to 3 people, and then still get out alive is astounding. No damage late game sir? Surely you jest!

I agree with a lot of this. DrMundo is this unkillable meat shield who holds up extremely well to heavy burst and DPS... but then again, there's no real reason to focus him in a fight. I feel like he suffers from the same issue as Garen and a lot of other old fighters, in that he's designed to be very good at tanky DPS, but wasn't really designed with a strong gameplay fantasy in mind (he's a ball of stats). All of his crazy tankiness and healing doesn't really help him as much as it should, because nothing he does to his opponents is strong enough to really draw attention to himself: bar a mediocre AP scaling to his W, there's also no real way of scaling his damage, so the only way of making his kit scale is to stack health. With the huge amount of straight-up tankiness and regen, though, there's also no clear way of killing him once he really gets rolling, bar hard-countering his ult with Grievous Wounds.

With that said, I don't think he can be allowed to have hard CC with the kit he has now, again because there's no clear way of dealing with him directly when his ult is up. I think the biggest thing that needs to change is his regen, which needs to work in such a way that it can be dealt with anyone even without GW, and which would likely require clearer counterplay ("just don't fight him" isn't a particularly interesting or interactive kind of counterplay). He also needs to have a clearer role beyond just being a meat shield: perhaps he could be the meat shield, and have his kit put his raw tankiness to interesting use beyond just negating everything his opponents throw at him. I think it would be interesting gameplay to have him sacrifice massive chunks of health to gain massive boosts in effectiveness, and have him ult at the very last moment for a chance at saving his life.

hold on there. mundo will kill your carry late game with this build item 3717 item 3110 item 3143 item 3083 item 3065 item 3800 all he needs. his w, cinderhulk, q, e, smite, that's all he needs to blast a squishy down.

1st thing: please know what champion you are talking about before posting.

Mundo doesn't use mana, which makes item 3800 and item 3110 about half as effective on him as the gold going into that build. Now, I'm all for theory crafting builds that work well even if you don't play it (I do the same a lot), but this is just not even close.

Instead of those items, consider: item 3075 and maybe a pair of boots (item 3047, item 3111, and item 3009 can all be great choices).

As either a top laner with smite or a jungle Mundo (which can work now), that is a very good build now that can in fact melt a squishy.

I wouldn't mind a full rework on Mundo. After how sion turned out I can only imagine how badass Mundo would be

I would like that too, his model is really old right now. BUT

But first, Riot has to reimagine one small thing. One little itty tiny thing.

The entire city of Zaun, supposedly the opposite of Piltover, Zaun is supposed to be another city of geniuses, except those are evil, mad inventors. And Mundo, Singed, Warwick(!) are supposed to be the maddest of them all. Urgot, Zac, Blitzcrank (and maybe Twitch, he is in Zaun's sewer after all) are the kind of inventions you can find in Zaun.

Let's be honest, there is no theme for Zaun right now, every zaunite character seems to come from a totally different world from the other, and the existence of Zaun was only made believable by the many articles of the Journal of Justice. Now that it is no more, now that the entire old story is gone, Zaun is kinda in limbo.

So, what I'm saying is, reworking Mundo, yes. Having a full rework of Zaun, maybe a Zaun vs Piltover themed event, with the VU of Warwick + Mundo, that would be the best scenario. DrMundo

Ever tried magic pen Mundo? Hit tanks for a 5th of their health with each cleaver. Normally only do it on aram but it's fun nonetheless.
