I would say that the top three issues are lack of proper runes, kit's that are way behind the times/are objectively worse than the other non bruiser options, and lastly the gold cost of their itemization compared to every other class.

Besides season 2's Metagolem and the brief period where the reworked juggernauts were overtuned, how many other metas have actual bruisers dominated?
H1 H0w are Ya1 votesSeason 4 was legit the biggest bruiser meta. Probably lasted 8 months of 2 bruisers in every game. Season 2 obviously with renekton shyvanna every single game Season 3 was half and half as a lot of interesting champions were released that year so assassins took a front row seat later in the season. Season 7 with reworked Cinderhulk. Tanks abused this too but bruiser junglers were so oppressive.
What ever season feral flare was. With champions like xin and udyr building just that and one other damage item and going tank after and rolling games
Tèrminus2 votesHonestly, the only bruiser item I could see being cheaper is Sterak's Gage due to how it scales with the game. It's basically the bruiser version of a Zeal item.

Jaurim's Fist (1200) + Pickaxe (875) + 625 = 2700 Melee Only
+400 Health
Unique: +50% Base Attack Damage
Unique - Lifeline: If you take 400 - 1800 (based on level) damage within 5 seconds, you gain a shield for 8 seconds equal to (57 + 1 per Level)% bonus Health that decays after 0.75 seconds (60 second cooldown).
Unique - Sterak's Fury: When a Lifeline effect is triggered, gain increased size and +30% Tenacity for 8 seconds.
Black Cleaver, Maw of Malmortius, Titanic Hydra, Frozen Mallet, and Trinity Force (if we're counting that as a bruiser item) are all fairly priced for what they do.
It's just marksmen itemization being a bit too cheap rather than bruiser stuff costing too much (Zeal upgrades are deceptively strong for their price point in practice, and are kept cheap on the logic that you need AD for them to be good, but build order already covers that weakness).

They reclassified champions and put them into nice, neat categories that group champs on strengths, weaknesses, gameplay styles, and balance goals. I've got nothing against her, but when the lead gameplay producer makes a video and uses a vague community term like bruiser I get a little disappointed.
ZephyrDrake1 votesconsidering that they already said MULTIPLE times that they are making a rune for bruisers and that is going to come either this next patch or the one after that... i don't think it matters much if they don't mention that. Also their itemization is a mix of damage and tank items... they have a few select items that are geared towards them but Riot also cannot make them be too strong or good for bruisers because everyone else will just use them and abuse them way more than they can, so whether they talk about their itemization or not it's rather pointless either way. The comes the kit part and ok... i can see it for some but then again i can also say the same for some mages, assassins, junglers, supports, ADCs and in short every single other class that there is always some random champion whose kit is not up to par so once again what would be lost if they don't mention things about their kits?
