Riot why is there no ap version of thornmail dc infinite crisis has one . the only real thing is banshees veil . having a ap version of thornmail would help out tremendously.

It's not broken in infinite crises and returning 30% damage isn't that much. It would make rammus that much stronger

Spellvamp isn't as good as lifesteal, so it would make countering that item a lot harder.

Generally speaking, Thornmail is built almost exclusively on tanks; AD carries are tanks' natural predator, and TM helps them with that. There are a few tank-buster AP carries (Cassiopeia comes to mind), but AP carries tend to aim more for the squishies, since most of them don't have the sustained damage to chew through a tank. With that being so, an AP Thornmail probably wouldn't particularly useful, or at least not any more so than any of the current big-ticket MR items. If you're up against something like a Cassiopeia, a Karthus, a Ryze, or some other sustained damage hypercarry, it could be useful, but due to how most mages work (harass/burst, rather than sustained melting), it would definitely be a niche pick.
