Matchmaking and game quality feels absolutely awful this season.

I was just talking in game with some people about how matchmaking this season feels like- Free win- free loss: repeat with close evenly matched games being far fewer.

After the game for the sake of curiousity i looked through my solo q games on op.gg mainly looking at the gold difference. And sure enough out of my last handful of ranked games, One ended with a gold difference of 3k (a relatively close and even game), one with a 6k difference, And all of the rest were 10k plus gold differences at the end of the game.

Personally I want to gather more data on this (while writing this post i set my OPGG to filter only rank solo games to see more and the trend is steady at least for my account), I am curious if players are broadly experiencing this across the rest of the playerbase and elo levels.

Assuming this is a consistent trend across all of league, For me personally, this leads to most games being incredibly unsatisfying: It never feels good or fun for your whole team to get steamrolled with minimal realistic chance to pull it back, and sure winning a stomp feels "better" because winning feels better than losing but only marginally when winning in a stomp b/c you weren't challenged and do not feel like you overcame anything.

My question for other players is have you noticed or felt this same trend this season? And either way what is your opinion on this theoretical trend of 1 sided games.

My questions for riot (as if they're gonna read this LOL): If this trend is false and my premise is incorrect please explain why and how.

OR if the theory is correct and the majority of games are heavily one sided, whether the cause is matchmaking, the current meta, or current champion balance (games being hard won/lost in draft), is it acceptable to riot for Ranked Solo games to generally be heavily one sided and if not what can be done to fix it?

This is a really long winded (although well written) post about stuff we already know..

  1. Because the game has become so snowbally the gold difference is going to quickly swing in favor of the winning team. Not only through the gold plates on towers, but objectives, and more cs.

This obviously creates a very quick "no coming back unless your opponents literally throws" situation.

When 1 person on each team gets fed, its whichever team immediately rallies and snowplows a lane together.

This is why as you go higher in elo, the problem becomes a little less problematic, because players do know how to group, and how to push objectives. This is also why in the LCS, this problem is nearly non existant. They play a completely different league of legends than everyone else due to the nature of the LCS.

This does obviously create a major disparity between elo's, and now a losing team can't just turtle, or work together anymore like before to win through strategy, as their mechanical skills, and objective knowledge will not be able to stop that unsufferable snowball coming at them.

  1. Riot wants it like this because they feel a) winning by alot feels better and b) quicker games for the chinese cafe users. Their glorious overlords.

Part of the issue is that some champs have STUPID good Wave clear very early on.

Wave Clear = 100% gold from a wave.

These champs also are snowbally and so they can take that gold advantage and turn it into kills that again snowball them even faster.

This is why We see only about 20 champs in any given game.

Other champs that take 2 Full Items to Do a 100% wave clear just CANT compete.

Riot has said this was so these champs can go roam.

Thats a BAD design.

Roaming SHOULD be Do you want to go help a lane and get a kill OR clear a wave.

Riot has given these champs BOTH. That RIGHT there is a huge part of the problem.

Most everything bad about LOL comes down to BAD design.

https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/wsjAAGA2-is-positional-mm-good-for-gameplay

The main trend is that s9 and s10 use Positional MM. I don't have a lot of information on it. I wanted to explore the idea that a possibility exists that lobbies and Positional MM don't work hand in hand very well.

I'm not entirely sure why, but im silver. and ive been getting Diamond and plat players in my games. It makes them feel completely one sided.
