Riot missed an opportunity with the Garen Rework

+Bonus Damage for 2 seconds when exiting a bush. I'm pretty sure we all know why. They could have it made it fit the power budget, and it'd be thematic with both their vision (juggernaut running right at them and combating), and with our meta knowledge of Garen (Brush Lord).

This is too perfect

Jonxx2 votes

It'd be perfect if it was someone else killed than ez...

Troll for Trump1 votes

idk why so many downvotes. Probably due to most of the bushren vids showing ez being the one killed(such as the one where garen slices his sword through ez then shushes him). But honestly, it should've been Teemo or Gnar . Cuz gnar's voice is annoyin(nonmega)

Ez x lux was while not confirmed it has been hinted at by riot. People joke that garen is super over protective. Eg:

The Shining reference, lmao.

People just can't understand that ez would just E away and bb kill.

He sorta has this in an abstract way on Judgment now.

"Judgment deals 33% increased damage when hitting a single enemy." This will probably overlap with most of the cases where the above brush mechanic would provide bonus damage.

Thankies Rioter for telling us that! You make a good point sir.

Wait, is that going to be changed from "Judgement deals 25% less damage when hitting multiple enemies"? Perhaps with a 25% damage reduction? Bwahahaha. Well done, sir. :P

The art of wording things so they sound good but actually are the same.

Duke Anax3 votes

It's odd isn't it? if you give him 100 damage and reduce it by 25 in one case, everyone gets mad.

but if you give him 75 damage and increase it by 25 in the opposite case, everyone is happy.

OneSmoothDude1 votes

All about that framing, baby.

ArkenStorm1 votes

tis the same. 33% of 75 is 25, so 100% damage total when hitting one enemy

kayakninja1 votes

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. The wording changes it from a drawback in certain situations to a bonus in the opposite ones, but nothing actually changes. It's great!

This is a really good point.

Who remembers when Doom bots (of doom) could summon garens from bushes you couldn't see into?

Because those were the days. Totally a lost opportunity that they didn't have the false garen ult you at the end.

"Ultimate Justice: Enemy Rivens are dealt the bonus damage with Judgement and receive true damage from Justice regardless of whether or not they are currently the Villain."

Silence duration now 1.5 seconds at all ranks.

ElJanitorFrank7 votes

Silence wasn't leveled up until level 8, Garen would have stomped her out of lane at that point, so the nerf has pretty much no bearing on the match up.

True, but I think all Riven mains should have to cower in fear lest they receive swift and merciless judgement for their crimes against humanity.

Garens theme is that his decisive strike leads to you siting in his judgement for like 3 seconds. If there are other enemies around he uses his courage to continue the fight and eventually dispense JUSTICE to the villain. He is flavor.

Lol, this would actually work for his gameplay. Every time I play against a garen, he always just hides in my bushes, even after a ward them.Garen item 1306

AdanChristo1 votes

why is there a garen re-work? what's the issue with garen?

Rueian1 votes

You want the player to figure out and develop a playstyle with a character, not tell them how to play the character.
