How do I play Vladimir mid - late game now?

I mean yay, his early game now has more kill pressure than it did before (which is the last thing he needed tbh), but his mid to late game is unless I am playing him wrong, useless. By mid to late game time, 98% of the time the team has an MR item of somesort, making my Q without the steroid buff more of an AA, and his E requires me to chase after them which an enemy team can easily turn and kill me (btw, cc stops E), Idk how I do damage without being focused and having to pop every defensive CD I got.

Before when Vlad was his super sustainable self, I could at least put pressure on carries while being at a safe distance like other current mid laners (LeBlanc, Ahri, Zed, Ziggs, Vel'Koz, basically every other mage). Someone tell me what I am doing wrong or if this really is a problem with new Vlad, cheers.

also if anyone judges me based on how I built him in my previous game, my team didn't have a tank and I thought I could run more tankier with the health ratio on his E.

This isn't an isolated case, I've seen dozens of posts point out these exact same issues.

He probably is useless until they get around to changing him.

The health ratio on his E does not scale as hard as the AP ratio. If you have 4k hp and 300 AP you will do less E damage than if you have 3.2k health and 650 AP. And you offer basically nothing to your team but damage, so build AP.

Build item 3136 before you build rylais, finish liandry's AFTER rylais, then grab zhonya's. Get sorc boots. Get deathcap. Abyssal/Visage/Void Staff, upto you. Your E will do true damage to most ADC's. And it will do something like 1.1k-1.2k fully charged with 6 items.

This is your combo. Q, drop Ult, Charge E(if you are dying, pool and let it charge all the way up), if you are low zhonya's to stall for ult pop, if you have to pool right before your empowered Q is up a neat trick you can do is E before you pool then release it as soon as your empowered comes up. You're most likely not going to live. Just focus on popping someone, and dealing as much damage as possible before you die.

Also, building AP, you have a LOT of dueling potential. So split pushing isn't a bad plan.
