I was wondering to all of you support mains what is your most out of meta support to play? For me its syndra, liss, and aniv i find them to be fun to play and also decent in supporting. Not great enough to be LCS picks but good enough to work.

Syndra support was picked in LCK some. :-) Just be careful. You might get banned by some SJW at Riot regardless if you are in the top 8% of players with a 53% win rate...

Teemo, and also Kennen

I tried to do AP ghar support. It worked a little but but requires so much effort.

Ashe IM PRETTY TAME

If my ADC picks Ashe I like to pick Fiora with the Royal Guard skin and pretend I'm guarding the Queen.

Or if my Mid picks TF I pick Tango Evelyn.

I played against a Shaco support the other day that was pretty annoying.

Mordekaiser, Nasus, and Rumble supports are my off-meta picks.

Ahri support. Especially if you pair with a Draven or a Kalista.

TwistedFate as a tank support with 40% cdr. Stun bot!

Some of the off-meta support champions I play are as follows...

  1. Syndra — mainly take her when the enemy picks Zyra or Annie support, so I can shut down the plants or Tibbers with ease by throwing them around.

  2. Vel'Koz — his burst damage combined with his slows when you hit his 3 part combo pre and post 6 is deadly. You can help your adc shred through tanks with his true damage. He's best picked with longer ranged champions, such as Jhin or Caitlyn, that can help bully the enemy laner and most likely snowball your lane.

  3. Brand — generally taken if the enemy chooses Morgana. I fight fire with fire. HA! But most Morganas that I've played against generally have Q's that hit like a truck. So if the Morgana goes hard, you can kindly encourage them to back the fuck up with Brand's equal or heavier damage, as well as his stun.

  4. Lux — generally taken if the enemy chooses a long ranged duo, such as Jhin and Morgana. I've saved my fair share of adc's lives by sniping Jhin with my ult when he's channeling his Curtain Call, and double snares help a ton, especially when enemy attempts to gank.

  5. Taliyah — sometimes taken if Vayne somehow makes it out of the ban phase in draft mode. The slowing minefield encourages them to back off, otherwise they may take too much damage. The ultimate stops ganks, especially if the enemy jungler has no leaping abilities. Also good to take if you know your adc wants to safe farm under turret. If the enemy gets too close, Taliyah can knock them under the turret.

  6. Nasus — not the best choice in support by any means due to lack of CC, aside from his slow, but his Q synergizes well with Relic Shield. Susan can still get to be a decent size this way. You could also zone the enemies with Nasus's E, but in order for it to be at least a little effective, you'll need a LITTLE bit of AP in your rune page.

  7. Yorick — a step up from Nasus due to his slow and his circular wall. Like Nasus, his Q synergizes well with Relic Shield. Yorick should ONLY be taken if your adc wants push power. If they do NOT want to push the lane, this pick is pointless due to Yorick's brainless ghouls going coocoo all over the enemy and potentially screwing up the minion waves.

JarvanIV : A less tanky Leona that has better damage and scaling

Fiddle, he's really good once you get practice. j4, but I generally avoid playing him because he's so hit or miss.

I really liked playing some Sion support some time ago with my friends just for giggles. It's real fun with an Ashe or Caitlyn. Arrow or trap = one sexy fully charged Q.

Also got my ass kicked recently by a Jhin with Azir support. Just saying.

Vel: snipes early game deny enemy adc farm, and when I hit lvl 6 pulling my combo off is garanteed to make the enemy back if not die. Die if my adc is nearby. Super strong, late game I 1 hit many mid champs (one hit combo that is)

Mundo: HP tank with a great regen and poke. What's not to love? ADC wants to fight? Go in and tank all the dmg and walk out. You won't even need to back due to the regen and get to stay and get xp+gold

Xin: You have sustain, you have damage, you have a gap closer and a way to isolate the enemy adc. You need synergy with your adc for it to work, but when it works its absolutely brutal.

How does no one mention Xerath? Xerath He's got a solid stun, a slow, and lots of poke - Play him like Velkoz and you'll consistently be surprised by how great he is.

While his burst isn't quite the same, his mana sustain is nuts if you can auto enemies - making it possible to completely harass the adc out of lane.
