He's not playing Nunu support with smite.

He's playing double jungle without his teams consent while queuing as for supp for faster queue times. Call it what it actually is.

A) He's not queuing as support to speed up queue times, he's doing it because that's the least damaging role on the team to lose. If you queue as Top or Mid and coubterjungle, you give up lane XP and gold, as well as your tower. If you give up jungle to counter jungle then the enemy will just counterjubgle you back. If you give up ADC then the player who queued support has to try and farm the bot wave.

The role that does not interact with minions is the obvious choice to sacrifice.

B) Queuing up for a game is not some agreement to abide by the strict 1-1-1-2 meta. What if I want toduo top instead of bot or if I would rather duo mid than jungle?

I mean, the support role is the one that supplies the utility and shields for the team (if the team is lucky). I'd say it's a pretty crucial role, and one I'd hate to lose.

AlienPrimate3 votes

Q - stronger than smite for taking objectives

W - Movement speed/attack speed buff for an ally

E - 4 second cd exhaust

R - Large AOE exhaust/separates or blows up enemy team

That sounds like utility to me.

When did Nunu get 40% damage reduction on his E?

Zyra provides less overall utility than Nunu. All Nunu offers is his Q for jungle, then pure utility.

Your argument about what support is supposed to provide is invalid because of that.

You should be framing your argument around what the ADC feels they're entitled to, not whether or not someone provides utility.

If it were a 'support' Ivern that was counterjungling the enemy instead, would you make the same argument? He's still going to provide utility/shields for his team.

midnight oil241 votes

Well see, Ivern is built for the jungle. He's made to be a support who goes in the jungle. His passive doens't give as much benefit if he isn't in the jungle.

And honestly, I hate that zyra goes bot and says "I'm support." No you're not. YOU GOTTA PROVIDE UTILITY.

WoonStruck2 votes

The same could be said about Nunu.

His passive, Q, and W are largely wasted outside of the jungle.

AlienPrimate1 votes

Correction, his passive is entirely wasted outside of the jungle.

Silverjust1 votes

A) makes sense B) then the team has to agree

ZURELL2 votes

what if you dont agree with ur team? now they have to comply to ur needs? but what if they dont agree with you? then you have to comply to theirs? then you just keep going back and forth? stop using the consent arguement. it's solo q. ur never gonna see these bitches again. everyone just try their best

Silverjust1 votes

If I am the adc and my support wants to double-jungle and everyone says he should not, then he should not go doublejungle and if he still does so I will report him

ZURELL2 votes

if neither of you cooperating and compromising then both of u are wrong. but only one of you is getting banned and that is wrong also.

The Yetii Rider2 votes

And if the team refuses to agree, then what? You put aside your own enjoyment and play the way they demand you to? That's ridiculous. Everyone should have the freedom to engage in the game in their own way. Otherwise the "meta" really is just "rules" that are arbitrarily enforced by the community which turns into genuine and unnecessary restriction in the form of bans.

I'm not, and I'm not. Whatever. I wouldn't want that crap either. Dude never came to lane.

dude never came to lane has nothing to do with having a trashy attitude

he never flamed he played to win it was ranked game

i don't need to look further

Dynamiku Entry5 votes

You're wrong, he communicates with every team he's on, and it's a strategy he developed not just a tactic he uses when he doesn't get jungle. He doesn't que for jungle. You're simply wrong and spreading misinformation. Only thing worse then being stupid, is being stupid, and smug

RavenMagus12 votes

He communicates with the team, but he doesn't compromise with the team.

He tells them how to play with his double jungle meta, but if they don't want to play with a double jungler, he says too bad and does it anyway.

iTaLenTZ5 votes

So which role should he pick then if he wants to double jungle but not be the main jungler?

ARAM.

que support, ask your team if its okay, if okay then play double jungle

No he isn't supporting. He's playing Nunu Jungle.

nunu is a support champion though.

Kayle is a support. If I go smite and counterjungle as Kayle despite being queued and roled as Support, am I support? No I'm double jungling.

tacofacefart3 votes

nunu is more supporty.

tacofacefart4 votes

yes.

tacofacefart1 votes

im down if you want to add, we can duo jungle, sona/raka.

Glory ln Death1 votes

Let me go smite/teleport Kalista with your Soraka or Sona and we've got a deal.

Actually, nevermind on the teleport part - that won't work anymore after they increased the channel time... It used to be enough time that you could take your soul-bound partner with you through teleport.

I wanted to try Kalista/Tahm Kench double jungle, both with teleport and smite for stupid amounts of map presence, but I didn't have friends who played League back then...

HudnofskiBleh3 votes

But it is the same. The player wanted to do something off meta (basically two junglers. No denying it's basically just another jungler.) But the strategy is getting hated because it doesn't go along with the 1 top 1mid 2bot meta. The argument I hear is that this style of play is bad for the ADC. How? Is the ADC literally a brain dead child that can't figure out that all he has to do is play more passively? Farm under tower, which will allow you to stay safe, have all of the CS you want without worrying about support taking it, and it's easier to get ganks from your TWO junglers since you are sitting under tower! I literally can't think of any good arguments as to why this guy deserves to be banned. He's also figured out a way to allow a typically bad champion to be usable! Players are always complaining about how the meta only allows a player to select a handful of champions if you want to climb, but get mad when this guy figures out how to make non meta picks viable.

Kubox9 votes

We get a daily dose of "Turrets are crap, mage supports are OP and 4-man fiestas bot are too easy to make" on the boards but sure, it is completely the ADC's fault for not being able to farm in a 2v1 lane.

HudnofskiBleh1 votes

I don't understand what this has to do with the argument. But because having this debate with people is probably unhealthy, I give you this victory. Seriously, why do I feel the need to argue for this Nunu so strongly?

Glory ln Death4 votes

You have a strong sense of "victim guilt". Basically, anytime you see someone being attacked or taken advantage of, you immediately feel the urge to defend them, even without understanding the full situation.

It can be a good thing in many situations (it's not bad to be empathetic), but it can often lead you to blindly defend something that maybe you shouldn't.

HudnofskiBleh2 votes

Nice response. My stance on the situation has actually changed now that I've thought about it.

Personally, I believe that that Riot, the Nunu, and the player base are doing some things wrong. When it comes to Riot, I believe they need to state what they find acceptable in cases like this. Do they want to enforce the standard 1 top, 1 mid, 2 bot meta, not allowing players to try different things in ranked? Or would they let players do whatever they want, even if it causes displeasure to other players? Elaborating on this would definitely tell the community what they truly think about all of this. I think that they should allow more deviation to the standard when it comes to rank. Even if it's not the most effective, it is a viable strategy, and seems to throw the enemy team off a lot of the time. Honestly, I think that allowing more deviation from the 1-1-2 meta would allow more champs to be viable, and shake the meta up a bit.

When it comes to the Nunu player, the one thing I say he could do is try to play more traditionally and being more flexible. Looking at his Op.gg, he seems to already be doing this, as he is playing a lot more Ivern.

The last thing I want to say is that maybe the player base should learn to be more flexible. 1-1-2 isn't the only strategy available to players, and they should be more open to trying new things. The Nunu Smite Support (excuse me, double jungler) strategy wasn't a bad one, it was just something that players weren't used to, so therefore they didn't enjoy it. I mean, the guy was in Diamond, he probably knew what he was doing.

Overall, I think Riot could be a little clearer, and Take The Draw and the player base could be more flexible.

Glory ln Death4 votes

I agree that all parties are in the wrong to an extent.

As far as Riot is concerned, I think they need to have a different response or "punishment" in place for this kind of thing (one player basically one-tricking an unpopular strategy to such an extent that his teams feel like it's being forced on them). A simple warning being sent to them to just let them know that they are having a strong negative impact on their team mates and giving some advice on how to continue their strategy without that negative impact would be much better. If it continued, a short ban (2-3 days) would be fine, just to let them understand that this is an issue (but not enough to warrant a 2 week ban or permaban).

The player definitely needs to be more willing to compromise with his teams. It's one thing to play a new and unusual champion or strategy, it's another to only play that, no matter what.

And the community needs to be more willing to accept new ideas (or at least not jump straight to flaming and reporting). Them being a bit reticent is a little understandable, since this was in Ranked, though.

HudnofskiBleh1 votes

Exactly. You said it better than I could.

Lauchmelder1 votes

I'm gonna be completely honest here:

If that Nunu would have been in my game I wouldn't have cared. He told his team what he's gonna do and at that point I would have picked a high waveclear champ for bot.

Ziggs, Corki, Varus, hell Azir or Syndra. It would not have mattered to me in the slightest. I have never really seen that strategy and who am I to judge then?

Kubox2 votes

I don't need to see them.

I'm a support main, I know what happens if you leave an ADC behind. I've punished supports for not being there just like I've been punished for not being there. Unless they give Draven a buff where he automatically starts the game with a bonus 1500 gold, there's no such thing as an ADC that can 2v1 with no problem.

Can double jungle no support work? Definitely. That is, if you are in a duo with the ADC and he knows the plan and how to play with it. But with a team of strangers? No freaking way.

Anags1 votes

And adc is the really weak role so why wastell resources on them when you could possibly put the enemy jungler behind. The jungle being maybe the strongest role on the team according to a lot of people.

It actually makes sense right now. But people want to play standard lanes regardless.

If their jungle is behind they will have a much harder time 4 manning bot plus you would have deep vision early on and see it coming.

Kubox2 votes

Yeah ... No.

Contrary to boards' belief, ADCs are not weak. They are still strong. They will still shit on your face if you let them get rolling. Bot lane fiestas would never be a thing if it wasn't for the fact that putting the enemy ADC behind while simultaneously putting yours ahead was one of the best way to secure a game as jungler.

It doesn't say "Support Bot Lane" there is nothing wrong with his actions Nunu is a champ with very supportive abilities and functions well as a counter jungler.

There SHOULD also be no issue if he thought support top or mid was more impactful and chose to do so.

Why is he forced to play the game YOUR way but you aren't forced to play HIS way?

It doesn't say "Support Bot Lane"

Doesn't it list it on the map as support as bot lane before the game starts?

Also, this thread is a year old.
