Not to be mean, but you really didn't hit Diamond "again" because it's all DQ now (which imo is meaningless for ranking). To actually hit it again, you'd have to do it on the solo que ladder.

I hit diamond entirely by playing solo.

That's more relevant and quite good but only you will know that for sure. It's not like someone looks at your DQ ranking and then gets a pop-up "no, he actually did it solo."

Same deal with solo queue vs duo queue in the old system, some things you can't tell by looking at rank, such as "Is this guy really mechanically skilled?" or "Is this guy an innovator/really skilled with knowledge/decision making/awareness?"

That's true, but duo que has much less influence than what a 5 man can be. Anyway, your point is exactly why I welcome a pure solo que and I hope Riot releases it soon.

Who the hell cares regardless? People used to duo to their ranks anyway. We didn't put them down then, so why put anyone down now?

lol idk how u did so good ive gotten close to about 20-30 percent 4 man premades in my game and it doesnt matter if i go 13/4 they seem to be not as good as the other premade

damn man sorry for zecastar comment. Was hoping the community would be smarter than that but clearly I was hoping for too much. I am sure Diamond + players will hear that card played a lot. I am going to be mad if people say "well you got gold again because DQ not SQ" but I guess there all just laughable comments anyways.

I actually do play it exclusively solo in ranked. I do this because all of my friends get big heads and think that because we're qued together we're godmode or something. They kinda just rush into fights that they would never do in normals and things like that so I decided it's safer to just do it alone. That being said, if someone plays the "you didn't do it solo card" all you have to say is "what? You can't even get to diamond with a group helping you?" ......that's what we like to call a lockdown. They'll have nowhere left to pursue that argument.

haha damn yea that's a good comeback. I usually only play solo or duo queue up until recently. Decided to partner up with some randoms after we had a good game and have met some cool people. Some I realize I do not like and then quit playing with them but have met a few I enjoy and we have played a few games together and been climbing. I really do enjoy playing this game more with people than without. I have realized with some friends I get too distracted as well as them and we do play worse. But so far when playing with randoms I have wanted to be on my best so it has helped keep me focused and away from tilt. But it is nice to just solo up, put on some music and just play some solo queue games once in awhile.

I do enjoy running a few game with randoms I meet along the way. It's different than playing with your friends or someone you play a lot with though. Randoms you meet will say things like, "So who are you taking? Do we have a tank covered? Who should I play?" and other things that are more geared towards giving your team as much advantage and teamwork as possible. My friends are more along the lines of, "PLAY HERMI MID SO WE CAN GO FOUR MAN JUNGLE!!! AP ROAM BLITZCRANK!!!! LET'S DO Katarina SUPPORT!!". Meanwhile I just shake my head and wonder why I ever took them to ranked with me. (I love shit like that in normals though)

Yea man doing that stuff in norms is the best. I just cannot take normal seriously so if I am playing norms with friends then I am going to either try a new champ I am terrible with or some weird ass strategy. But I hate when people do stuff like that in ranked. Most of the time my friends and I would take ranked seriously, but there were a few games where we tried new strategies and got destroyed. Better left to trying that stuff in normal.

Lol, many people don't want/value getting to Diamond with a group so that whole notion doesn't fly. I could also duo que with a booster's smurf and get to Diamond but it doesn't mean I want to and feel like it was merited.

Yea, however you didn't consider the part where someone with that mentality wouldn't be involved in the conversation in question anyways. Only certain psyches will pursue certain forms of conversation. Anyone who berates someone for going to diamond with a group (or accuses them of it for no reason) has a psyche that considers diamond (or social stature on a bigger scale) rank to be important. They only try to belittle the diamond player as compensation of their own jealousy. To bring to light the fact that they had the same parameters but could not obtain the same results would spark that person's ego backwards and would effectively give them no more room to stand on, leaving the opportunity for actual conversation (though they'll probably just be hateful during those convos too). Of course, what do I know. I'm only trained in psychology because I originally intended to be a profiler, so I probably have no idea what tricks work on people. You probably know more about them than I do.

This is why d5 is elohell, people who hit diamond think they reached end of the world and dont care about winning anymore. Most of the people in d5 dont belong there, skill difference between d5 and d4 is like silver to platinium.

I think I am only going to play solo queue if placement matches actually make some sense. If everyone basically starts in bronze then I am not wasting my time. I am in low elo but I have already grinded the lowest of low elo many times and not doing that shit again.

It'll be using your preseason 6 elo, so wherever you place in dynamic queue after provisional will probably be the same place you'll start in solo queue, unless U do significantly better or worse in those first 10 games.

Well if they use preseason elo then everyone will be about a tier higher. If they use your season 6 dynamic queue placements then that's retarded because we all dropped roughly a tier of elo. I know the original post said something about dynamic queue placements and rank are based on your preseason 6 solo/duo queue (since its the only queue right now), but don't remember reading about what solo queue would be based on.

I just feel like Riot's timing and implementation (if they do introduce a separate solo queue) was really poorly planned for 2016. I feel solo queue will be a turnoff for players who are already placed and started to climb DQ. if you are unranked there is probably more incentive to play solo queue rather than DQ. But if you have already risen back to your original solo/duo queue ranking in DQ why would someone want to take time climbing solo queue if their starting rank is much lower than actual and they just got done spending 1-2 months climbing out of that elo in DQ?

I would probably end up doing the climb even if I knew I started in bronze 5... just because I love playing ranked. But please Riot don't allow this as I don't want to put myself through that hell! haha.

I've always preferred playing ranked solo cause it felt like more of a gauge of my own personal skill. Plus when I do play with premades it's usually with people with a wide range of elos.

Thanks to dynamic queue, which was implemented so that people "wouldn't have to abandon friends", it is no longer possible to play ranked with your friends unless their elo is within your range.

To be fair that range is absolutely huge. A G1 player with 1850 Elo (enough to be promoted to Plat) can duo with an 1150 Elo shitter in S5.

Thanks to dynamic queue I had to drop a tier to play with a friend, went 5/5 in intro games and managed it, but still can't invite all members of my old ranked team together (silver to dia, I used to be plat).
