[Rework Suggestion] [Game Mechanics] Mordekaiser
- Initial considerations:
I love mordekaiser and I know that no rework pleases everyone, and I know very well that my suggestions presented here will not lead to any change (I know the world does not revolve around me), I simply make these suggestions for pure fun. Yes, I have fun creating characters and worlds and I also like to see the suggestions of other people. And yes, I'd love to read your suggestions and ideas for other Mordekaiser skills (and why not for other champions?).
But in relation to some things that did not please me in this Mordekaiser rework, it was to go against some of the new features that were presented in his tale. "You confuse brutality with ignorance." is literally what Mordekaiser tells to the thirteenth magician before killing him, however, this character's intelligence is not reflected much in his gameplay. Yes, he dies much more easily than before, but it's all a matter of the right moment to get into the fight and positioning, not forgetting, of course, his E, which can be used to push away enemies if used in the right way.
A character that is what I want to achieve with this suggestion is Lee-sin: one skill advances to the enemy after hitting it, another advances to an ally or ward, another gives slowness and the last one kicks an enemy, pushing him. Quite simple, isn't it? That was what I thought many years ago, until a lee-sin to destroyed me with its complex and wonderful insecs. "How could such a simple kit create such complex combinations?" was what I thought, in wonder. Returning to the mordekaiser, he is simply unbalanced, yes he is so absurdly strong that it is very difficult to play with him and not get bored with his Over Powered skills, however, making a character not so satisfying to be absurdly strong is not to make an interesting rework, you simply give free victories for your players in exchange for silence.
The main points I want to take into account ("consideration" does not mean that "they will be used") in this suggestion of rework is precisely the characteristics presented in the new lore, and a little of the old one.
- He is intelligent, being abreast with the intelligence of Swain and Leblanc, seeing through the lines of their manipulations. That is, using this in gameplay to maintain an openness to more complex strategies, while keeping his kit simple.
- He literally used the millions of souls he collected by killing his enemies to forge an empire in the afterlife, the Mitna Rachnun. If he forged an empire with these souls, why not bring those elements to the material plane? (Which is precisely his plan in the new lore).
- He came back to life 2 times and now it's only a matter of time until he comes back a third time, it would be interesting something involving this, no?
- He is an iron revena, an unstoppable, cruel and impossibly resilient metal wall, weapons and magic tickle him.
- Is he a wizard, a necromancer, a wizard? According to the new lore, he has such abundant knowledge of magic that even Leblanc fears his return.
Secondary points I would like to consider:
- His mace, the veil of the night, commands his empire, it was forged using the souls of the 13 necromancers who resurrected Mordekaiser. How to use this in his gameplay? Undeads at his command?
- His mind dominated the world with brutality and coldness, after becoming ethereal, survived the insanity of the stifling emptiness of the afterlife by determination and stubbornness. Would it be interesting to use this point to reward players who stay cold in the worst of situations? The old one rewarded this, since the passive iron man kept it alive even with 10 hp. (and he's also very sadistic, it seems).
- I like metal too, so let's keep this theme in the name of his skills, please? lol (although his songs are considered rock/hard rock nowadays)
- Skills:
Passive - Endless War: Mordekaiser pushes allied and enemy units sideways, with the exception of champions. Every x seconds, units executed by mordekaiser (except for champions and epic monsters) will be revived by his necromantic magic and will have a small bar of life that fades over time and are unable to deal damage to structures. Using the Q turns these souls into a small barrier in front of him that fades over time, transforming into a barrier places the passive in a longer recharge time.
Q - Mace of Spades: Mordekaiser can activate this ability up to 3 times. At first it will strike the ground with the base of the mace. On the second he will strike the mace from right to left, causing area damage on a cone. In the final casting, he will hit the mace on the floor from top to bottom, causing damage in the area before him.
W - Pillar Men: Mordekaiser sacrifices life to bring a pillar composed of tormented souls to the material world. The pillar blocks projectiles and grants shield to him. If Mordekaiser breaks the pillar with the Q, the shield is canceled and he recovers part of his spent life used to summon it and sends a wave of magic and torment that silences enemies around the pillar.
E - Harvester of Sorrow: Passive: While this ability is in recharge time, if Mordekaiser is dealt damage, fragments of his armor will levitate around him, inflicting damage over time to enemies. Activating this ability will pull enemies towards you.
R - Children of The Grave: Mordekaiser uses his necromantic magic to erect a portal to his kingdom of death, in case an enemy enters the portal, Mordekaiser and the enemy will be automatically teleported to the arena and will initiate their match (if he goes too far from the portal he will disappear) . If Mordekaiser kills the enemy within the realm of death, he may enslave the soul of the enemy champion for a period of time (attacks and abilities of Mordekaiser also damage the slave and heals him with a percentage of the damage). If Mordekaiser dies while the portal is still open (and his body is within the portal limit area), the player can walk with his soul to the steel body and will temporarily revive with 20% of life, he can do this until the portal close or someone enters the portal and defeats him (which will not be too difficult since he has 20% life).
- Final considerations:
Yes, some skills are similar to or similar to the current Mordekaiser kit, they are cool and useful, especially that jerk, being a colossus, this is essential to bring enemies closer to you, since Mordekaiser is a colossus and this was just the old problem. BUT I also didn't like to keep this skill, after all, I wanted to do something different, but still useful. What could I do? A Dash? An area that causes slowness? But if I made that area of slowness it would be even worse for the enemies, because the way Mordekaiser is now, his first item is a crystal scepter of rylai...
