I would say stay away from Azir, Aurelion Sol and Zed simply because if you don't play mid lane, you probably (no offense) don't have the mechanics required to play those champions. They require a decent amount of games put into them before you actually can play them the way they were intended due to how much positioning, timing, etc. matters on them more so than other champions (granted, it's extremely satisfying when you do).
If you ever do try out mid lane though, Syndra and Taliyah are super strong. While they do kind of fall under the same category as the other mid laners, it's more about knowing how to utilize your skills to their full potential. They can dish out a ton of damage if you combo properly and it's always fun seeing someone get pelted to death by Syndra's ult or Taliyah's Q.
ARAM wise, Jayce, Xerath, Velkoz, Kennen (kind of), and Galio are extremely good. Good poke on the first 3, last 2 have decent poke and amazing AoE engages.
From what I've seen from your profile, it seems you play Wukong a lot so perhaps maybe try Kled or Jayce for top lane. Kled is probably closer to Wukong though, as Jayce is more about poking from range then all inning. It's also a good idea to try Kled out since you'll most likely be facing him a decent amount in normals because he's new whenever you take a break from ARAM.
