From a Quinn main in Season 3 to early Season 4 this change is great

I love Quinn, but I feel she is too weak for me to play. Her passive is interesting, and her combo is extremely fun to pull off. Her splitpush/duel playstyle made her fun to play in all three lanes. Even though she has all of this she always felt bad to play simply due to her ult throwing off the rest of her kit.

Her ult used to be a mix of a splitpusher, assassin, and escape tool. Now it's been moved into an escape/movement tool (which is a good thing). It'll allow her to dominate more in the early game (due to heavily increased map pressure), and play as a splitpusher/duelist in the late game.

The only complaint I really have about her changes is she's losing an on demand AS buff that will allow her to punish teams that don't respect her splitpush. I'd like to see her harrier proc on towers (it doesn't need to do extra damage even though it could) so she'd be allowed to have a stronger splitpush pressure via the AS harrier buff. Other than that it sucks that she's losing her blind, but giving her reduced CD on her passive with crit chance, and giving her a way to proc it on her Q is worth it imo.

If you felt she was too weak before (which she wasn't), they made her even weaker now. Also, despite promises to keep duo lane Quinn available ans still just as strong, Repertoir just straight up decided to make her mid laner

She was weak in the way the her kit wasn't optimized to fit a certain playstyle, and instead allowed for some 3 playstyles that were all subpar of every other champion in that playstyle. The strongest way to play her was as an assassin, and that's why I eventually stopped playing her. I'm glad they're moving her into the splitpush direction. I also don't see how this is forcing her into the midlane. I still see her being viable in all 3 lanes.

If she was built as a traditional ADC, then you had two different styles depending on what form you were in. As Quinn, you were the best duelist in the game As Valor, you were an assassin.

And how is this not forcing her into mid lane? Ok, sure, she can probably still be played top, but the main components of her kit that allowed her to be a duo ADC was her blind, and her assassination power in her ult. They removed both, making her pretty damn useless everywhere, and impossible in the bot lane

(also, here's a little thing: tag team can be interrupted if you take damage. So if you didn't like being slowed down a bunch when you got hit as Valor now, well then after the rework, you just get put back as Quinn)

quinn was not the best duelist in the game

she can still be played bot considering that she'll scale well and probably got a harder-scaling harrier proc as well as her Q doing extra damage based on your missing health

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

You. Have. No. Blind. That was the major thing for her as a duo lane, and what made her such a strong duelist: high single target damage, and the ability to negate any AA damage from your enemy. And then who is the best duelist?

kJs1 votes

Fiora

I agree with you though.

Quinn was a great duelist with her blind and E against AA reliant carries such as Master Yi and Yasuo but now she's being shoehorned into an all range champ with better damage.

If it was a 2 second wind up time on ult I'd be fine with the changes.

Quinn is an amazing duelist, she has high burst, damage mitigation, and one of the best kiting tools in the game, late game there is no one champion you should be afraid of as Quinn.

Thanks for adding that.

Can we have quinn ride back to back on Valor while valor runs along the ground like Banjo and Kazooie or is that copyright infringement?

Bavacavalata2 votes

You really must not like Quinn then, because this rework made her weak and almost to the point of unusable. All because of the Q and R changes. Give me back a 120 second long cooldown @RiotRepertoir, and give me back her blind, otherwise this champ is useless.

Big Lincoln1 votes

you haven't even played it yet lol

Bavacavalata2 votes

Taking away the blind is a sure way to say she is weakened right now.

kJs1 votes

She isn't weakened, just a change of playstyle.

Vesarixx1 votes

It's way too drastic a change though, like it would be similar to reworking Leblanc into a heal support at this point, it doesn't make sense and it alienates the people that play her.

where can I get a copy of these changes? I like to see the numbers.

I don't think they've been posted yet. I'd expect to see the changes show up on the PBE in the next couples of days to weeks.

The changes can be found here though

Hi guys,

With preseason hitting the PBE shortly and Quinn being one of the six main marksmen getting an update, I wanted to put up a post to gather feedback on her changes for her time on the PBE before release. Rather than a long line-by-line changelist on the PBE, you'll instead find the main changes going on in Quinn's update in the body of the thread, not necessarily in P,Q,W,E,R order.

Changes:

  • ** Tag Team (R) has been heavily repurposed into a strategic map mobility tool:**
  • Tag Team's visuals have been changed from Quinn leaving the game space to Valor flying Quinn around beneath her.
  • Tag Team now has a 2-second channel at its start, and no longer has combat spells or basic attacks.
  • Tag Team now has no cooldown, and its Movement Speed bonus is now very dramatic.
  • Skystrike has been retained, but deals less damage and does not deal increased damage based on targets' missing Health.
  • ** Blinding Assault (Q) has been repurposed (and renamed) into more of a waveclearing tool and less of a dueling tool:**
  • Q's name has been changed to Aerial Assault, because... the spell no longer blinds.
  • Aerial Assault now marks its primary target as Vulnerable (passive mark).
  • Aerial Assault now does up to double damage based on targets' missing Health.
  • Half of Aerial Assault's cooldown is refunded if it kills at least one enemy.
  • Various other changes:
  • Harrier (P) attacks now deal a percentage of Quinn's total AD rather than a base and bonus AD ratio.
  • Vault (E) has had its dash speed increased, and it should now more reliably return you along the vector you dashed in on.

The above changes are the main ones that should most dramatically change the way Quinn plays following her update. Please feel free to give feedback on any of the above stuff, and do let me know if anything feels off about the character in ways you wouldn't expect given the above information. I did quite a bit of script cleanup on her, so I want to make sure I didn't change the feel of things in ways I didn't intend.

Thanks all, Repertoir

Gonna be honest, I don't like these changes at all, she's losing a TON of dueling power, and the 2 second channel time on her ult plus the reduced damage on skystrike is going to make her level 6 all in complete garbage. Quinn already has decent waveclear on Q, and the blind is part of what makes her a good duelist. Removing the base damage from her passive in favor of having it completely scale off her AD is likely going to result in a major nerf to her early game. I don't see her being viable as a solo laner after this, which is where I primarily play her. I also can't imagine why after being primarily considered a top laner since release Riot is now trying to force her back into the ADC position.

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

Also, tagteam gets interrupted when AA, use an ability (except W, which is exactly the same), * OR * you take any champion damage. Any.

Boulderox1 votes

where does it say it breaks ult when you get AA'd? may i ask

Boulderox1 votes

apologies i still don't see any riot post stating that if you get attacked in sky strike that it breaks, only that you can by q or e, and that you can manually do it "Nope. If you basic attack from Tag Team, it will fire the basic attack, fire a Skystrike, and cancel Tag Team."

Boulderox1 votes

awesome, thanks :)

Vesarixx1 votes

That's terrible, it's going from a great all in ability to a much worse Rek'Sai ult. You would pretty much only use this to get back into lane faster or join your team after farming a side lane.

kJs1 votes

They want her mid lane because mid laners roam. They've removed Valor from combat but I think the passive proc of harrier on Q and now a Q CD reset (which makes it spammable) will let her splitpush and waveclear way better. I think the 2 sec channel is what would hurt her old playstyle though.

I think if it was given a 2 sec wind up, cancellable by enemy movement disruption, silence, interrupts and heavy CC would be better.

Vesarixx1 votes

I already play her mid lane, I'm worried that these changes will ruin her ability to solo lane, and the loss of the ability to auto or use abilities as Valor is huge, especially being able to W in the fog so you don't fly right into the enemy team. It doesn't make sense to remove her blind for wave clear as a mid laner any more than as a top laner, she doesn't have issues with wave clear as it is, her Q can one shot the caster minions pretty early into the game.

jade harley BARK1 votes

Not too happy about the blind removal but the rest sounds fine

Big Lincoln1 votes

the harrier proc is also a % of her total AD which I'm betting scales up throughout the game

so maybe she's losing mid-game assassinate power for a proper late game?

i'm half and half on the changes right now. her ult being a channel doesn't help too much

SeargentAnus1 votes

I'd like to see the %. Hopefully it's actually strong so she can work with CC based teams.

ModWulf Helhammer2 votes

She already had a great late game

Vesarixx1 votes

Exactly, she duels anyone late game and her team fights are decent as well.

Blade of Justic1 votes

I like where they're going with the changes.

I just feel like they could have still left her blind in there somewhere.

She's one of the few champs that actually has one.

SeargentAnus1 votes

I'd like skystrike to be removed, and her blind returned. Skystrike sounds useless now.

Horrorshow1 votes

I don't mind the changes to the ULT . . . . because I hated the long cooldown. What I do not like is that they nerfed the damage to skystrike and made the ULT useless. I feel that the ULT should have something a little more done with it . . . to make QUINN better. Movement speed is nice . . . and the new Quinn sounds tons of fun to play . . . but she sounds so weak now and her ULT looks useless. Especially the part where there is a channel and the fact that it can be cancelled after just one hit.

Veraska1 votes

I think with this form of quinn, her splitpish probably shouldn't be as strong, like you move reaaallly fast in bird mode now, and it ain't got a cooldown, it'd be hard to punish her over extending without dedicating 3 people to deal with her
