Can we remove some of the class restrictions on support items?

For example:

  • Spellthief's Edge now grants Adaptive AD / AP.
  • Relic Shield now triggers on melee attacks and single target abilities.
  • Zeke's Convergence now triggers on attacks and single target abilities, and grants the reverse-adaptive damage type (i.e. a magic damage ability will deal bonus physical damage).

I think this sounds cool.

Sounds like it might make the items a bit too good.

The downside of this is that if you make the items into things people in other lanes want to buy, they will buy them. Then Riot will nerf the items.

It's happened at least twice I think.

Coin mana drops give HP when manaless.

As much as i would love these changes, would probably be a balance nightmare.

I always thought they should lock the support items to players who went in as support (though trading in game would require role trade requests as well to avoid certain problems with that). That way the items could be better for supports (I miss you face of the mountain and 500 health eye of the equinox) without buffing adcs who take targons or midlaners who might take frostfang. They already do that with the jungle items where you have to have gone into the game with smite to take advantage of em, so why not with support items? (i do not think they should lock em to a specific summoner spell as that would really limit certain support playstyles though).
