blitzcrank and morgana being the most popular and banned supports in the game. at least these 2 had to land a skillshot and had a lot of play making potential, now its all braindead slave-supports.Feelsbadman. Riot, how do you expect good players to want to play support when sona soraka and janna have 54% winrate?

Landing a skillshot doesn't magically make the champion more fun to play or play against.

A Sona Q is annoying, sure, but a Blitzcrank Q can mean the end of existence.

Rainfall1 votes

well i dont think people played janna because she was fun to play either.

IcyPepper3 votes

Personally I find Soraka more fun than Blitz and Janna, since her Q leads to a bit less binary play than those two. God, Janna is fucking boring and Blitz is... blegh.

Cowseed1 votes

Bitz is fun. Janna is.... [sg-ahri-3]

LankPants2 votes

I enjoy playing Sona or Janna far more than Blitzcrank. This may surprise you but fun is subjective.

MysterQ13 votes

Morg stun is too long. 3 seconds? Ok gg. Likewise, Blitzcrank is too feast/famine.

Both of them are kind of if you land the "skillshot" the enemy can't do anything. If you miss, then you just wait until you can shoot again.

I know this is too general. I have played both and many times your team can't followup for the kill. But that style is not too fun. It feels terrible to be on the other side of a stupid skill.

Is blitz really feast or famine? As long as he lands his Q he will always be useful

MysterQ2 votes

I am speaking of lane mostly. If you land your Q, it is feast. If you miss all your Q, it is famine.

Lategame, you still have value. But if you miss all your Q, you still useless. If you Q a tank, you are even worse lol.

I just mean for myself, I don't enjoy the incredible cc "skillshot." You can dodge most of them, but it is an unfun lane for me to be in.

chipndip110 votes

In lane: If you can't land them you're famined.

Out of lane: Blitz doesn't scale into fights for shit in most instances. Competent comps have front liners that don't mind a free gap closer.

Morgana and Blitz Have one Skill shot each...

Janna 1 Skill shot (that has a huge delay to get max range), a shield (like morg), a point and click slow, and a skill free ult (like morg and blitz) Soraka 2 skill shots, a point and click heal, and a skill free ult (like morg and blitz)
Sona has one skill shot, her ult, but her 3 skill free spells can be itemized into nothingness. Unless she goes AP Sona, but then her team's useless late w/o the utility they need from her normal itemization.

So what's your argument really?

MysterQ5 votes

Janna's ult imo is actually hard to use. Sure you can just click it whenever, but that is not the best time to use often.

NoPaxt2 votes

AGREED!

Rainfall1 votes

I did not mention skillshots anywhere in my post, yes janna has a skillshot buddy but her kit does not revolve around her landing it nor is she punished for missing it.Blitzcrank's entire kit revolves around him landing his Q you will even see blitzcrank's flash E on the enemy adc just to guarantee the hook. The same goes for morgana. Its not about number of skillshots its about how important they are to a champion's kit,how much the player is punished or rewarded for missing or landing them.

NoPaxt5 votes

"at least these 2 had to land a skillshot "

Rainfall3 votes

yes,i mention the importance of landing skillshots on those champions, not the number of their skillshots.like i said in the comment above, blitzcrank's and morgana's kits revolve heavily around them landing their skillshots unlike the other champions i mentioned.

NoPaxt3 votes

Her ability to peel and keep her ADC alive completely revolves around her Q. Janna dosn't get punished for a missed Q, but her ADC does, and that's worse.

Blitz's punishment is only a CD, his other abilities can still be used defensively. Same goes for Morg. Her punishment is just her a CD, she can still zone hard with her w, and shield.

Rainfall1 votes

well,i think you need to improve your knowledge of the game to understand my argument.

NoPaxt4 votes

I think you need to play these "braindead slave-supports", you might actually play a game where you don't feed. They may have a low floor, but a much higher ceiling than you think.

https://www.askideas.com/media/37/Funny-Laughing-Gif-Picture.gif i mean common dude, you're bronze 2,you main janna, and your only game without janna is a jax jungle with infinity edge in your build.

NoPaxt2 votes

That jax build was for the 3 item mission.... Bronze II and smarter than you....

Both Morg and Blitz are really uninteractive and unfun lanes for support

They both have:

Did I hit Q?

Yes > Have incredible kill potential.

No? > Walk away till its back up.

Janna Soraka Sona have skillshots. ( not with a completely retarded hitbox btw)

Riot, how do you expect Blitz/Morg mains to want to play support when sona soraka and janna have 54% winrate?

ftfy

Rainfall3 votes

Well, most good players in the game do not want to play support because it lacks skill expression,in fact a big majority of the community plays all roles except support for that reason. It is truly sad to see how the role has turned out over the years. Janna made the problem worse making the support role even less attractive to good players flooding the support role with bad players. Some players consider it an insult to be called a support main. All in all,i am no longer surprised to see players who refuse to play the role or dodge when autofilled into support since thats the natural thing to do for a good player.

HaIlMonitor2 votes

I dont know if that is really true. Normally the support mains I know have skin as thick as the earth crust, and are more jolly then Santa. Usually people hate being the ADC's bitch and team punching bag for the loss is why I would say people dont like it. Some of the best play makers in the pro scene are Supports like Aphromoon, they just usually dont get the credit because the ADC was given the kills even though they did all the work, which also is tough for some players because if I am 1/0/27 on a support why is the 8/0/3 ADC getting the credit for the carry?

I do agree with you that currently though a lot of the good supports are brain dead, but so is a lot of the lanes except mid basically imo (Jungle main). Supports like Thresh require a lot of skill similar to champs like Nid, lee, Vayne, Riven ect. It's just people choose not to do it because they want their peers to praise them, which franky most people dont.

Old Dirty Snu1 votes

Aphromoo senpai! Notice me!

NoPaxt1 votes

Support mains put their ego aside, they get no credit when their team stomps, and all the blame when they get stomped.

It's why the fragile egos of most players can't handle the role, they won't get constant praise.

HaIlMonitor2 votes

That is exactly what I am saying.

MysterQ3 votes

That is a player problem and not a support problem.

NoPaxt1 votes

I'm a proud support main!

People don't like playing it because they want to see inflated numbers in their KDA, their ego says I must carry. Those are also the people who blame the support for their crappy mechanics. The support role has a low floor but an incredibly high ceiling. Most people can play an adequate support, but only a few can play it great. You don't win team fights without a good support You don't win games without a good support. People who call the role or its champion pool brain-dead, are often the ones getting owned by a good support or cam't understand the role.

Rainfall1 votes

actually the support role used to be a lot more popular, after all a support brand deals more damage than an adc vayne in the lanephase. Its the last couple of seasons that riot started forcing braindead supports in the game. I have a fair share of my games in the botlane especially as adc, this season i stopped playing support i would not even touch the role with a 6 foot pole after ardent was added into the game, maybe things will be different next season.

NoPaxt1 votes

Ardent is strong, but no different than and ADC taking item 3087 item 3094 or item 3085 . It's just an item to deal with.

Pre Nerf of Censor Nami was strong, but now is just okay.

Janna, Sona, Soraka aren't broken because of Censor, between their kits and itemization, they can build a lot of utility. Tough to deal with? Sure, but far from brain-dead or broken.

Morg mid is where it's at. Don't need to worry about putting out lots of AP when your ADC is the damage dealer anyways.

Succubús GF2 votes

Janna has ONE skillshot lul Soraka has at most 2 but her e isn't quite a skillshot bc its basically point click. Sona is literally 3 hitting qwe, you mean post 6? God you are such a meme >.<

HaIlMonitor5 votes

I honestly cant really decide which one is worst.

The Miss all your skillshots, but when you land one you win squad Blitzcrank Morgana Zyra

Or the

No one dies when im on the clock squad Janna Soraka Sona

And A Real Hiero1 votes

With the exception of maybe Zyra, they are all equally braindead to me.

Possibly Inting2 votes

misfits literally just beat SKT with biltz and leona. the ultimate all in or nothing champs.

if they cna beat the best team in the world with them you can pick them in solo queue and win.

Doozku1 votes

Pro play and solo queue is completely different. Also, SKT still ended up winning the series.

Possibly Inting1 votes

yeah but they lost to those champs? which means those champs are viable and winnable with?

and yeah pro play is different, but not so different that a champ that is played there isn't viable AT ALL in solo queue. Like there are a few champs played in competitive you can argue.

Ryze, Taliyah are more staples of pro play than solo queue. but even then they are viable in solo queue, they just require a lot of skill to pull off effectively.

All In Suports are very viable right now, people just take the easier less risky route with ardent.

Friendly Ram1 votes

Morg is still a fun mid laner right up there with fiddledicks.

Old Dirty Snu1 votes

Morgana was my first champion I ever bought. I played her mid. Ah fun times. Now I am an adc main after being a support/jg main. I didn't know adc is so much fun! But I will always be a support main at heart.

SpaghettiVase1 votes

I think blitz is still the most banned support champ but I'm not entirely sure.

i cant move wtf1 votes

Morgana and Blitz have both been played in 2017 worlds with winning records. Not viable though.

DariusDemiurge1 votes

FYI for the unintelligent, Morgana q is a snare not a stun so you can still fight back. Stop calling Q a stun. As for her ulti it is not that great since it takes 3 seconds to activate it's stun.

blitz and morg are both enablers, aggresive picks. some people like aggressive picks, others like defensive picks. inherently, defensive play is easier to pull off than offensive play, being more consistent means higher win rate. A single player however, can become so good at aggressive play, that their win rate is as high as a defensive player - because defensive play, while more consistent, also has a smaller cap on what can be done to carry a game.

Old Dirty Snu1 votes

What about Nami? Or Lulu?

GForce9x1 votes

You gotta take into account that it's an ADC focused meta and so you'll typically want a support who will buff your adc and/or keep them alive and ardent censor is ridiculously strong right now as an early game item. Also, when you're playing with randoms and you don't have that quick communication, it's easier to play re-actively with peel and disengage than it is to play proactively with aggression.

Automated Riven1 votes

I miss when an adc with one item wasnt considered late game. at 19 minutes in the game.
