Two changes the queue desperately needs...

Select your preferred champions at the same time you select your preferred roles. This saves 30s and gets us straight into bans.
For the love of god, restore bans to the 1st pick. Spreading it across six players is idiocy... a. people troll by banning preferred champions b. people walk away waiting for others to do their ban

Edit: I'm in queue right now, going on 20 minutes to find a match. This thing is an unmitigated disaster. Roll it back.

Edit: Finally got a match after almost 30 minutes.

Edit 2c. people forget to lock their ban or pick and timeout

First idea is a very good one. No reason to not implement this. I say implement this and remove the 'no lock = boot' ... should serve to keep the average queue length lower and mitigate against the really long queues due to people not locking in on accident/while doing runes/etc.

If all the bans are handled by one person, that one person would troll anyways because of pick intent.

yes. good suggestions. I would like to suggest 2 additional tweaks:

don't require us to "lock in" bans and picks. Countless dodges from players not realizing they have to do this. I lost a game in my promos bc this thing is new and I forgot i had to lock. as long as some champion is selected, lock it for the player.
make it more apparent that it is your turn to ban or pick. The bright orange/dark blue contrast of old was effective

it needs a few changes, but these are 2 things that absolutely should not be changed.

Don't select at the time you pick role because you can be matched with teammates that choose the same champion in a different role. But instead give a button to say you are ready to move to the next phase of champion select so that you don't always have to wait the entire 30s.
Don't give all the bans back to first pick. a. If it's really a problem that players are banning your preferred, than prefer a champion that you want them to ban b. Yeah, there needs to be a null ban that allows you to not ban a champion (probably would also reduce troll banning). But aside from that, I would say that if a significant portion of players are still forgetting to lock their ban in say... a month from now, then I'm glad I'm not playing a game with them and that they have a queue dodge penalty for essentially being afk in champion select.
