@Riot, how about a buff to barrier?

These supports are ALL you see now in any ranked game. Not only that, but if you're forced to support, you're flamed if you pick anything BUT those four most of the time.

Riot strives for diversity in gameplay, but only 4 out of the 20ish supports are picked consistently at many elos. Sure, you may see the occasional Bard or Nami, but they are immediately counterpicked by one of these monsters. Why? It's simple. Their spells guarantee a burn of one or both summoners. If you don't have a summoner, it's a free kill on you. They can miss 24 out of 25 Q's, but once they land one, you are guaranteed to die or burn your escapes.

What I suggest to spread diversity in the support role, is to buff Barrier. I suggest that when you activate it, you gain a spellshield for the duration. If it blocks a spell, the spellshield disappears. This would help immobile adc's to counter these supports, and encourage people to take barrier again.
