Overall Win Rate vs. Win Rate By Games Played

I brought this up in a recent game and was a little shocked to learn that everyone besides me judges champion balance based on the overall win rate rather than looking at players who have taken the time to master the champion, which I believe gives a much healthier look at how a champion is doing in the long run.

This mainly stemmed from a discussion about my current distaste for Kha'zix destroying in the Jungle. Although his win rate is only above 50% overall, at 200+ games played it's over 58%. High skillcap, yes, but perhaps slightly overtuned.

Which do you use to judge champion balance and why?

I tend to look for matchups in lane and the win rates vs them personally. If a champ beats a large number of lane matchups by over 5% I tend to view them as to strong.

really depends.

Lets say riven is a high skill champ, and people with 100s of games with her have a good winrate, then that's fine. At the same time, that means people without alot of games need to have a low winrate. That isnt always true and that's a problem that would need to be fixed if it happens.

But when we look at malz, and we see that the winrate doesn't really change because he isnt very skill expressive, then the overall winrate matters alot more. It camp be at like 54 if anyone can just pick up and play the champ successfully.

so combination of the two depending on the champ
