With no ruby sightstone and no more banner of command, non-healbot item-based supports are really bad. And since rakan has a kit that screams "I AM A TANK"... Can we give him some love?

But as an extra point to what the other guy said: Rakan having a bit of range allows him to share Xayah's W a bit easier. If he was straight melee, his synergy with Xayah's W would be pretty much pointless, and the effect of the feathers flying out wouldn't work at all.

How is 275 range a drawback? Its clunky and strange - Rakan either needs a proper basic attack range or an exception so he can use itemization that he was clearly meant to utilize.

Him being classified as a ranged champion is literally a built in drawback.
You’re telling me he should get to benefit off of outranging all the melees and use their itemization too?
If he was meant to utilize that itemization then perhaps they would have actually classified him as a melee champion then?
Krynnˉ1 votesI mean... Relic Shield is shit anyway so even if he was melee I wouldn't take it, it's the weakest of the 3 GP10 items. Also Rakan isn't a tank... He's an aggressive enchanter, he is designed to build like a Nami, Soraka, Janna with some other items like

ModWulf Helhammer1 votesHe’s intended to be ranged so that he stays squishy, so that he can’t build items like Titanic Hydra. Rakan was Riot’s prototype for an assassin-esqe support, which means he’s not supposed to sit in the middle of fight soaking damage.
