@Meddler, can you consider some soft touches for GP before his Rework in 5.14/5.15?
Hey Meddler, I want to say thank you for finally bringing Gangplank up to the table to get some changes. Hopefully with this new mini-rework, Gangplanks main like myself can find a better time taking the pirate into the heavy waters of Platinum and above. You don't know how grateful I am that this rework is coming since I get a lot of shade for playing Gangplank in games and see on the forums that nobody cares that much about him.
I know that roughly it will take about 2-3 months of waiting for the rework to get onto PBE and about a few more weeks to test out the changes before going onto Live. So I wanted to talk to you about giving Gangplank a little bit of help before you guys finally finalize the changes for rework to hit PBE. In Patch 5.10, you guys shifted around the Utility Tree, hitting one of Gangplank's more valuable abilities in the tree: > Expanded Mind LANE SWAP Expanded Mind has swapped positions with Meditation on the Utility Mastery tree Meditation LANE SWAP Meditation has swapped positions with Expanded Mind on the Utility Mastery tree
With the Meditation mastery changed, Gangplank feels heavily mana thirsty even if you only try to focus on farming. And this is a problem because in this tank meta, Gangplank as a single target damage clear with no consistent wave clear besides his ultimate(which is fairly used on bottom lane or toplane duels) has to farm to hit some of his strolls mid-late game since he can't be that effective against tankier top laners and team comps. Gangplank should be rewarded for farming similar to Nasus and Draven where they are farming for stacks and making sure it pays off in the later parts of the game.
If I could offer two options that could possible, it would: **1) **Buffing his mana regen to offset the mana regen lost by the Mediation mastery switch or **2) **Reducing mana cost of Parrrley to be 50 mana at all ranks (This would help the more risker Gangplanks who put points into Parrley instead of Orange making them more vulnerable)
Another I would want throw out is the possibility for Grog-soaked blade to ignore 50% of the enemy champion's magic resist. The reason I say this is because enemy champions can get fairly tanky against Gangplank with only a cloth armor and can negate a lot of Gangplank's damage with a mid-tier armor item and then buying Merc treads since they know Gangplank won't do too much to them. Additionally, In the mid-game Fighters/Tanks will start stacking both resists and can have a huge edge against Gangplank especially if he has to get tanky. So if his poison ignores part of the enemy champions MR then it will help him mid-late game while relatively unaffecting his early laning phase.
