Just like Ekko wasn't supposed to be a tank, Nasus isn't supposed to be a lane bully.

The lane bully E max Quasus totally warps what Nasus' gameplay identity is supposed to be. He should be weak in the early game and farm up his Q to then become a splitpushing monster juggernaut in the late game. His early game should be his weakness, not his strength.

What he actually is right now is a lane bully that can destroy a whole minion wave with one E and casually poke his opponent as a side effect. Because the enemy laner would have to not only stay in his spirit fire but also walk into a full minion wave to stop him, Nasus can free farm and poke as he likes.

You'd think that the winrate curve of Nasus would rise as the game progresses but absurdly enough it drops by 4% at the 35 minute mark.

So how would you fix this? After looking at his kit I think I found what is so strong about his E - it's the flat armor reduction that it has. The reason why flat armor pen was reworked into lethality is because it was too strong in the early game and Nasus' E takes that to a whole new level. At level 9 spirit fire will reduce the enemy's armor by 40, that's two old Youmuu's Ghostblades not even 10 minutes into the game. Even worse, because minions have 0 armor, the 40 flat reduction will make him deal 1/3 bonus physical damage against them at max rank.

So instead of being 20-40 flat armor reduction, I say let's make it 12-20% of the target's armor instead. This will a) make it so that he doesn't deal bonus damage against minions anymore since there is no armor to penetrate, b) not make it an early game spell anymore but something that excels in the late game and c) make it an anti-tank shred spell instead of an anti-squishy shred spell. Nasus is a frontliner and a Juggernaut, so it just makes sense that he would have more percentage penetration to deal with the enemy frontline instead of having flat penetration to deal with the enemy squishies. Flat pen is nothing that a Juggernaut should really have, it's more of an assassin and skirmisher stat.

This would bring his power curve back to where it should be without nerfing Nasus into the dust.

Let me know what you guys think.

E max nasus is horribly overrated, but it's a fair trade-off. In exchange for being an annoyance in lane, he has no late game at all because he isn't stacking.

The worst you can actually say about it is that his E has no counterplay at all; the giant AoE is instant and comes up with a large burst of damage up-front.

Editing this in: E max Nasus is a joke except as a specific counterpick. I gladly welcome any Nasus to max E first against Darius.

Even if it is fair tradeoff, it's just not what Nasus should do. He has always been the farm up into late game monster kind of champion. Plus, even if the new Quasus build isn't overpowered, it's definitely anti-fun.

He has not been a dominant late game champion for a very long time. It seems that way because he's very overwhelming against uncoordinated teams in solo queue, but he is actually strongest in the mid-game with his Q build and a lot of stacks.

If Nasus is to be pushed into late game power then more than just his E needs to be changed.

Nasus can be a dominate late game champion if the likes of Vayne, Yi are not in the game and did not get fed. I tend to still do well with Nasus regardless of time in the game provided there is not a super fed ADC on the enemy team.

I have beat plat and dimond Darius players, Pantheon Players ect as a gold 3 Nasus. I don't think Nasus has any true counters besides time. If you are patient then you can overcome any opponent.

E Max is fundamentally worse at pretty much all points of the game. Any champion who can clear the wave as fast as Nasus can with E max will very quickly out scale him and dumpster him. E max is so heavily reliant on your team playing well and essentially carrying you to victory. Sure you can out push in some cases with this build and get a few towers but you will be a handicap if your team can't press the advantage and end the game by 20 min.

This is probably why we have seen Nasus win rate decline from 52% 2 months ago to under 47% now on OPGG.

Having multiple play styles is fine for any champ as long as they are not down right broken like AP YI once was.

E Max is not broken. It might suck for 12-15 minutes but after that Nasus will do no damage from Q and gain nothing from his passive. He will be easily ganked and destroyed with little to no resistance.

People playing e-max and acting like it is META are just lying to themselves. There are very few match ups where it is even a useful tactic and even then you should be stacking as much as possible to translate well to mid game. Look on OPGG. It is not that successful and has tanked his win rate over all. Q max is by far superior and I challenge you the next time you see E max to pick a champ with great wave clear like Renekton/Darius let him push you to tower then freeze it ouside of your tower. If played right you can get several early kills or force him back to recharge making him completely irreverent.

I actually forgot that Spirit Fire reduced armor lol.

Yeah I completely agree that it should be changed to fit more closely with the changes to armor pen.

If we want Nasus to not be as much of a lane bully.

I believe Nasus AP ratio's or base damage will need a slight nerf, the scaling on that is too high for its own good.

I know its a small problem but the thing is that he loses out on stacks and improves his early game.

But we all know that Nasus is meant to be a late game terror, it seems fine to nerf that part of Nasus.

as a nasus main with 699 999 mastery, i have to say I hate push nasus... but its rather fair. sacrifice some scooby stax to actually have some retaliation is boring, but its reasonable. basically, its saying fuck you to anyone who plays teemo, quinn, darius, garen, swain, panth to counter pick you, only for them to enjoy getting purple circled to death for their failed attempt at making your first 20 minutes of the game absolute hell on purpose.
