What's the sweet spot for Transcendence?

The rune seems strong on paper, but seems so hilariously outclassed by Celerity in every regard. Surely there must be some use for it; Riot wouldn't make a slot with three options and have only one of them be remotely viable.

Is it best to take it and get a strictly 30% CDR build to maximize item slots? Or does Celerity beat it out even then with the massive damage and speed amp over the value of a freed up item? Going for crazy high excess CDR for its own damage amp seems like a waste too, missing out majorly on the movement speed and compromising the utility of your build. And going just a bit over the CDR cap by rounding out your build with the necessary items like item 3157, item 3102, or whatever an ADC or fighter needs to be viable doesn't give near the same value of Celerity's combination of stats in the same exact build.

It just feels like a trap rune. It has a slower return value than Gathering Storm and even when it gets to that value it's still outclassed. The only way it can be viable is on pure AD tanks into a retarded-ass pure AD opposing team by stacking item 3110s

Glad you caught the subtlety there. [slayer-jinx-wink]

Celerity is just really good.

Transcendence is good on Zilean and other utility champs though. It's good on Janna and Soraka.

But I take it when I know I'll have to over cap on CDR or will need it to hit 40%. I think it's fine.

It's good for that mid-game CDR spacing but uhh... How do you get good boosts out of celerity? highest ive seen is like 14 AP, which even Gathering Storm blows out of the water. Celerity's main benefit is the 3% movement speed, imo. The actual stats on it are disgustingly low, but I'm a low rank scrub so what do I know.

I love Transcendence. I use it on most champions that use the Sorc tree. I even grab Transcendence/Gathering Storm on my Tanks so they pack extra punch come lategame.

On mages without speed boost, celerity gives you really small damages. CDR is really useful on most makes. I take transcendence if I will most probably not reach 40% already, or if I will probably take at least 50% (rare)

With the new ap itemization I feel like transcendence is stronger than ever?

The first item gives 20% and you can get another 10 if you opt into Zhonya/Banshee/mask/lich, but you'd rarely if ever buy 2 of those items. So transcendence is almost necessary to reach the 40% CDR cap? (Like you want boots, void, deathcap, spellbinder - there isn't room to build 40% CDR?)

I think celerity is strong, but 3% move speed isn't insane (spellbinder gives 10...) And the ap ratio on it is quite low. I don't even notice a huge damage difference on Ahri, who should be getting loads of MS going to AP whenever she casts Q (her main source of damage). I'm still torn whether to go celerity + scorch for full early, or celerity +storm for late, or transcendence + ultimate hat for optimal CDR...
