Whoever decided Malzahar should get an immunity shield every 10 or 6 seconds
Really has no business deciding any sort of balance decisions ever. It's an ability that would be op on URF

Was probably the same person who decided
should get a
ult as a normal ability.
lmfao whining about zac?
I could be wrong, but wasn't this to help with his ultimate? I remember people complaining that Malz was bad because his ult snared himself and made him a sitting duck (or people could immediately cc him out of it). This at least gives him a second or two to actually do some damage without instantly dropping.
Even auto attacks break the shield, so I don't think it's actually that overbearing.
Yeah, ya just AA him and it's off. However, I do still think he's pretty broken in top lane against melee champs.

If it was for his ultimate, why isn't it a passive effect for the first second of it? Why can it have a 6 second cool down?
Sure, autos will break it, but with that uptime, it basically fuck every single melee champ because he's cc immune and nearly damage immune for a full second after being popped.

They wanted to keep Malzahar as a good anti-assassin counterpick, even in pre-six levels or when he doesn't have his ultimate.
Innate: Malzahar receives Void Shift if he hasn't taken damage nor been affected by crowd control in the last 30 / 18 / 10 / 6 seconds. Damage from minions does not interact with Void Shift.
Void Shift phases out Malzahar, making him immune to crowd control and taking 90% reduced damage, lingering for 1 second after taking damage or blocking a crowd control effect.
why is this even a thing?
where's the counter play? Even poke comps don't get abilities they can freely throw out to pop this shield that has that much uptime.
Not even champs with spell shields as an actual ability get to block secondary portions of abilities, much less the cc of them if damage occurs first.
This kit is legit overloaded, you thought it was the silly interaction of his voidlings and spawning to clear the jungle without taking damage. But it's really that once the game gets to even when you can surrender he's already getting immunity every 10 seconds.
It is still every x seconds without being affected by cc or taking damage, so it only helps the initiation of a fight. Also the damage on his abilities got hit hard in the rework, so they felt (for some reason) that he just needed a crazy good passive to make him still work.
Smoke another one Riot
Y'know, what if someone were to buy Bashee's Veil, QSS, and Mikael's Crucible on him? Think I'm gonna try that in a Normal game soon...

I seem to recall Banshee's Veil and his pasive both get popped at the same time if he's hit with a spell, but I may be wrong on that.
Yeah the first time it will, but then the timings will be displaced between when his shield is up and off, then it'll play a role.
Unless you're out of combat long enough for both to reset.
Yep.
