The buff to AP items, particularly Rylais, helped him greatly along with his new MR scaling.

The real reason is the MR per level. He didn't have that before and now he has it.

He got MR per level, and his itemization was buffed. That it is down could be due to having a small sample size so far this patch, or may so bug was added or fixed related to him.

Soraka had a simila bump which faded a few day later. I concluded she is a good counter to tahm who appeared in every single game during a few day.
