WARNING: Different ranks for each position is going to destroy this game and here's why:

I know you all dont wanna spend 50 mins reading this crap so ill make it short.

1. A new era of unfair matchmaking I don't know the details just yet, but can't a jungle main queu for mid and then switch with someone else? Possibly creating an incredibly unfair game. We already have pretty unfair matchmaking at times and this will make it 10 times worse. Also, players will be playing more games where the system won't know where to put them since each offrole is basically a new account with unstable mmr.

2. Grinding 1 ladder is already tiring enough So if you play all 5 roles, you gotta play 50 placement matches? Then you gotta grind each role? I don't want to have to go into my profile and see 5 diff leagues, 4 saying unranked because I refused to do this.

3. Loss of sense of belonging This one is a bit more subjective. Being in 5 different leagues feels really weird, and in my experience with other games that have a similar system, it loses the meaning behind it all. Having a bunch of leagues somehow takes away the sense of "that's where I'm at" and there is **zero connection with your league **anymore. Plat adc, gold jungle, silver mid

4. Takes away player merit I can already see the role shaming "dia with supp only isn't diamond!!" "get dia in all roles noob!". The current system just says if you're diamond you're diamond no questions asked.

I know a lot of people are going to instantly downvote because they want to play their offroles but I strongly believe it will overall be bad for the game.

What you guys actually need to do is make autofill less common and add that new league to split silver in 2

  1. Pretty sure the system already accounts for this.
  2. Part of the changes is to keep autofilled people tossing an L to their unlucky teammates from making it a grind.
  3. League rank is a terrible measure. Plat players with game knowledge worse than silvers, autofilled into ADC diamond players unable to resist feeding, and pretty much anyone filled into jungler.
  4. There's already taking away from player merit in the sense of more flexible players that don't climb to the extremes on one role as it is.

I thought they had a general rank and sub rank in the new upcoming system?

I'm prone to think this new ranked role is never going to work as they think it is. It will go over about as well as anything else riot has done over the last year, with the exception of the Nunu rework, which is the only thing good thats been done.

Very easy to solve as riot can detect which roles a champion is playing ingame by where they are positioned in the early game (that is how the api gives websites like champion.gg champion stats based off of roles). They can then calculate mmr based off of these roles.

Will be less divisions so grinding on each role takes much less time.

Why? Platadc, gold jungle, silver mid is a much better description of a player than some generic conglomerate.

4. Takes away player merit I can already see the role shaming "dia with supp only isn't diamond!!" "get dia in all roles noob!". The current system just says if you're diamond you're diamond no questions asked.

Players can earn diamond in any role they want and will be given merit based off of those said roles.

?? You do realize that happens in champion select right, after the teams are put together??

And the mmr system adjusts for position at the end of the game so it will catch anything that happens in champion select.

Wow this is just completely going over your heads isn't it. WOOOOOSH.

He's saying that once the teams are formed if somebody changes positions you may effectively have a diamond mid main stomping a silver mid into the ground because the Diamond kid queued for support and then traded roles.

And I am saying that elo is actually made to handle those situations by adjusting mmr gain/loss. The elo system doesn't need everyone to be at the exact same skill level, it can handle players of different skill levels. With these adjustments, swapping roles end up getting very little to no mmr and ends up just being an overly complicated way to smurf without adversely impacting the opponent team's mmr.

I think the real problem is autofill? A system like this could only work if autofill wasnt a thing.

well if your autofilled it will take your rank for w/e it puts you in

so if your gold 3 mid lane main autofilled support and your a terrible support you it will put you with bronze 4 people for support

that's what i would do

the only issue i see with this. is if someone wants to swap. and if you are say REALLY good at one champion in said role but kinda bad at another champion in that role.

i like the idea

i mean it will certainly get my to play ranked again. (unless it donest work out as riot intends)

Aside from the role shame all question are answered in the article where they announced the changes ... Maybe have a look at it before making up your mind
