What a fucking meme, and the worst part is that it's actually believed by such a large population of league players.

She doesn't lose lane vs ranged tbh, I played fair share of and tbh I did fine vs abominations like , which would get completely dumsptered by.

Useless against everything outside lane phase you mean.

You shouldn't be winning vs heimer lol, that matchup is pure cancer. He can literally just place a turrent in front of him as you cast e and can out push you and then harras you under tower.

Illaoi has always been auto-win against other melee laners. Nothing new here.

Allow me to chime in a little bit, as a veteran toplaner. Something important that you have to understand about illaoi, her laning is only strong if you let her take over. Up close, she has no cc, no escapes, no peel, nothing to defend herself, besides her somewhat high base stats. Don't be a pussy, dodge her e and q, and go in. You will be able to outtrade her with the overwhelming majority of the toplane roster. Darius is completely different from that, and comparing the two is an absolutely useless practice. This whole post is a mess: Illaoi doesn't autowin against meelees, she autowins against stupid people. Illaoi is pretty fucking bad against ranged champs, that is true. I suppose if you have a very high skillshot accuracy, you can get by. Darius is not bad against ranged champs by any means. The only ranged champs that darius can't beat all the time is quinn, because of her autopeel button, and urgot, who can actually just straight up fight darius in some situations, but he's in a different class anyways. If you get on top of a ranged champ, which is not as hard as it sounds, you are going to kill them. Always. The pure stat advantage you have is more than enough to just walk up and destroy a ranged champ. Of course, there are smaller nuances that you have to master, like keeping track of defensive/kiting abilities cooldowns, and just having a feel for a good engage opportunity, but the theory that darius is useless against ranged champions is a gigantic misconception. Some of the easier matchups are ranged champions themselves, like Teemo or Vayne. The last point is correct abut illaoi, but terribly wrong about Darius. Darius has multiple (!) tools to get on top of the backline with relative ease. Phase rush, black cleaver movespeed, righteous glory, dead man's plate, flash and generally not being a dumbass who walks into knockbacks are all tools that make it ridiculously easy for you to get 5 stacks, get on the backline, and absolutely destroy them with your 1.2k true damage execution.

Honestly her play pattern is absolutely obnoxious to play against in lane as melee.

If you get hit by her E you have to stop laning until you deal with the minigame, and worse than that it also spawns other tentacles so now you cant even trade back anymore if she Ws.

She has always been that way. She is a terrible designed champ and a completely bullshit one as well, even is less oppressive when in a melee match up and I would argue her ulty is one of the most disgusting things to fight against 1v1 in lane, especially when she keeps spawning tentacles. The most annoying crap is when you kill one and it comes right back in the same damn spot almost as soon as you kill it!!!!!!!!!

She is like a weird bastard child of and imo. Needs to be dumpstered to the levels of urgot pre rework until they can make her not be such frustrating bullshit to fight or trade with.

Darius is kinda Garbo, and i main him.

May I suggest taking exhaust against her top lane? Hold onto it until she ults then laugh as her damage and health regen is cut to pieces.

I find most of her abilities easy to dodge tbh

honestly I don't understand why people have such a hard time fighting illaoi in laning phase. She isn't that bad

My problem is that her E have the dumbest hitbox in the game. I could visibly sidestep it and still get my soul taken.
