Gold 3, looking for some tactical advice.

Just got out of a rough game. I could go on and on about what happened, but the match history can do that for me. I have a question.

Is Dragon worth suicide? My bot lane and mid lane had no lane presence what so ever so usually it was just me left to contest dragon when it came up. After like three dragons my mid laner started flaming me for not having dragon control.

I know that he was just on tilt and blaming whoever wasn't waiting to respawn at the time, but it raised a good question: Should I suicide if it means I might get drag? It would have been shut down gold, but maybe it could have done something. Lemme know what you think.
