Which is a shame because I really like the idea of him, but between the casting delay on his Q, and him essentially losing his passive once people get into "zed range", I feel like I'm never gonna have an occasion to pick him.

I mean I guess if the enemy team doesn't have a zed/leblanc/talon/yasuo/focus sash rattata you could safely pick him.

But I can't tell you the last time I had a game that didn't have a zed, yasuo, or leblanc in it.

Through our playtests, I got the feeling he was going to be one of our stronger release champions. We'll see. There's a big learning curve to all new champions. His strength might not be apparent off the bat but I suspect he's there, or will be with some minor tweaking.

i've already witnessed both personally and on various streams that if you keep that balance of having enemies just far enough to where they can't hurt you decently but just close enough to be tearing them to pieces with your stars, he's actually a complete monster. if he really gets into a sticky situation he can shut it down almost completely with an R-Q combo and walk out or continue DPS with stars.

he's solid at least and broken at most. people are overstating his immobility and understating how powerful his DPS and lockdown actually is.

Hell, the Q alone makes him a solid pick, because no matter how far behind you are that stun is still gonna be able to do serious work regardless.

That's fair enough. I've seen some crazy damage output from him, so he's definitely not a complete fail-boat. Perhaps with some practice I'll start seeing some A-Sols become A-Holes.

I played the matchup with LeBlanc vs Aurelion Sol. He is definitely not weak, but I was able to win the lane. Maybe I think that because it was the first time I had to play this matchup. But obviously he has more utility than every assassin and can easily keep up with them

From what I have seen in my games on the PBE and my one game on Live, he is shut down very easily by CC. Just throw some CC on him in a teamfight and he might as well not even be there. However until then and with great positioning, he is a total monster.

Some are hurt more by CC than others right? I mean take Malzahar or Kat, they are hurt more by CC than say Xin Zhao.

All those people can get "shut down" if you stun lock them.

in fact that's what most people say to do to Yi "just stun him"

the only person on the list really is Olaf, cause his ult

No. Try stun locking Yi. Watch him dodge it all with a Q and kill you. Everyone on that list either negates cc somehow or does damage while cced.

From full hp? Probably not. But when it puts your cc on cd and he kills you with 2 AAs + Q it's good enough.

I have a feeling that he's like Bard, his unorthodox kit will probably turn a lot of people away and look pathetically weak to most, up until it gets to the hands of the right player, who will then proceed to fucking own the match.

He is poorly designed. He is equivalently singed/taric. The main reason that he won't be a strong pick in his current state is due to 2 critical facts:

He cannot hide in bushes. He MUST use fog of war to get surprise flanks/ambushes off which also means either you need good vision control of an area (meaning clearing out enemy wards) or the enemy has to have poor vision control.
His damage output is pretty bad considering his passive can be shutdown if hes cc'd which is extremely likely to happen in the current meta of champions.

I don't know what to say except that whoever designed him had the season 1/2 mindset.

Exactly. I feel like he'd fit in back in season 2 when everybody was on the same "level" when it came to in combat mobility.

I've played him a little bit, and against him a little bit, so I'm by no means an expert, but given that he can't double-tap Q, I don't understand how he doesn't lose lane from lvl 2 on against anyone with a gap closer. Literally anyone.
