I saw a trend in the updates.
Juggernaut update: Every champions broken
Marksman update: majority of champions broken
Mage update: a few champions broken
Assassin update: everyone but rengar khazix trashed
fighter update: ?

Irelia won't be touched. Luckily Vi and Diana are in a pretty good spot. The other 3 champs you listed are getting gutted though.

. Darius abused people because they weren't respecting his new Q and passive and Garen didn't even get to see pro play once. all 4 of these champions have been steadily getting worse with every patch as other shit comes up to kill them.
not to mention most of their items were more broken on other champions than the ones that were supposed to enjoy them, and got them nerfed for the juggernauts. for some reason they turned 
into an item that everyone wants to buy, when it used to be exclusive for juggernauts back when it was low AD and higher in health. 
remains a mediocre pick and 
was better on melee DPS than juggernauts. they've done a good job of indirectly gutting the juggernauts as a whole with constant nerfs to their items because other champions (read: ranged) were stupid with them.

darius was not that bad. his counters were; he happened to get reworked into a meta that greatly favored him, so naturally, he dominated.

How was that not an issue?
Big Lincoln1 votes were broken; mord was 100% pick/ban in competitive and Skarner reached close to or over 70% winrate in soloQ
was overwhelming specifically because he was reworked to fight tanks during a tank meta. It's no wonder he was so strong, but his stats still never reached what Mord and Skarner achieved. He would have averaged out naturally, given the buffs to ranged top laners that has put them back in the meta + the nerfs to his items making him much less tanky. Now he's back to not getting picked in high level play, despite being by far the healthiest juggernaut
was easily the weakest of the 4, barring the kneecappings mord and skarner got. He was at his strongest when his Villain passive was bugged and the true damage scaled with HIS HP instead of the target's, giving him disproportionately high damage. As soon as that was fixed, Garen's usefulness dropped like a rock, and he continues to be a shittier version of Darius.
LordGeovanni1 votesNo one knew how to hit Darius q at the time but his passive was straight broken and still is. Garen has villians to bed and does taric things with them. Illaoi was released with the update and 5v1 everyone
