Which champions would be good counterpicks to Illaoi?

Apart from the champions that Riot specifically stated that are counterpicks ( )

Also, can someone explain to me how her kit works? I understand that she can summon tentacles, but... That's all I understood, I am currently having issues to understand what she (her kit) can do. Her kit seems to be confusing. For example, I understand that Azir can summon soldiers and use them to attack, Kalista can jump and kite anyone in addition to working well with a duo laner. Illaoi, I can't seem to understand what she can do, at least noy by just looking to her kit.

As I said, the problem of looking at her kit in paper, is that alone it does not allow me to understand how she works.

I could just go play against her then, but since nobody understands how to use her yet (since she was just released) I will not be able to understand entirely what could counter her.

Just looking at numbers, information, etc, does not allow me to fully understand what a champion can do. I thought that Gangplank would destroy Kha'Zix due to the barrels, but then I played Kha vs a Gangplank on a battle, and for my surprise, GP's barrels do not negate isolation.

whats there to understand? she works like a tanky ad caster. look at her champion spotlight. that should tell you enough.

its pretty straight forward. shes gonna try and e you for the ghost and then hit your ghost and you simultaneously for increased damage with q and w.

just kill tentacles and look that youre not lining up with the ghost for her q.

it´s not that hard to understand, basically she wants to force you to fight her within her tentacles, the easiest way to do this is her e - especially if you´re a melee, as her nearby tentacles automaticlly strike for the spirit created by the e, hitting both targets usually if they´re close. the alternative is her w to procc tentacle strikes, but that´s easier to dodge. So as a rangd Champion it´s fairly easy to play around her...just like with heimer, destroy the tentacles and she canßt fight you with much. With melees however you have to sidestep the tentacles a lot if you want to beat her.

I'd be careful about that, Get tagged once with her test of Spirit, and you will just get pummeled. Personally, I would try another Juggernaut.

isnt she a bit mobile to count as a juggernaut? her w is a gap closer on a pretty short cooldown.

it´s really short ranged and she doesn´t posess any follow up cc - so she´s very easily kited around. Her w is mostly usfull to direct tentacles and as an AA-reset, not so much as a gapcloser.
