Jayce's statistics show that his early game is the majority of why he's unbalanced.

First of, let me say that his play-rate and win-rate between 6.19 and 6.20 are almost parallel in their proportional increases. That's extremely unnatural for any champion one may claim to be 'balanced', especially with a massive influx of players like Jayce is experiencing.

Take a look at is his 0-25 minute win-rate. He sports a massive ~57.4% winrate before the 25 minute mark. This, along with the massive drop-off of almost 10% past 35 minutes shows he's an issue specifically due to his laning.

Another thing of note is games played.

A player that has never played Jayce before still holds an average of a ~50.5% win-rate. Between 1 and 125, his win-rate is relatively stable at ~%51. This skyrockets to a ~56.7% win-rate past 125 games played.

**~87.5% of players have not played more than 50 games on Jayce, yet he still never dips below 50% average win-rate in any data bracket outside of post-35 minutes. **

What this data all shows is that Jayce's laning phase specifically is a problem. Its too easy. His early strength is too consistent. He has too many tools and his numbers end up too high too early.

His late-game is comparatively weak, so Riot could possibly nerf his early-mid game and buff his late-game in order to address this problem without upsetting true Jayce mains.

The final thing to take note of is that Armor Pen is the main reason Jayce's early win-rate is so high. Players started forgoing Tear, instead opting for Armor Pen, making him significantly stronger early on in the game.

With the preseason, Armor Pen itemization is receiving significant changes, and this may stabilize his performance again.

I, personally, believe his early game will still be an issue, since players in general realized that you don't need to go Tear, still providing a significant improvement to his early game.

However, keep those Armor Pen changes in mind and stop asking for nerfs until after we see how the new itemization affects him. Riot has already stated there will not be much champion-specific patch content until after Pre-Season is set in stone, with the exception of those that are already receiving significant changes.

Asking for Jayce nerfs before the new itemization comes in is essentially a waste of breath, if what Riot has said is true.

IT'S Darius ALMOST Caitlyn LIKE Blitzcrank RIOT Illaoi DESIGNS Quinn CHAMPIONS Teemo TO Pantheon WIN Renekton THEIR Irelia LANING Fiora PHASE

Throw the bottom 87%+ of those in 25000 games and you won't see them hold an average of 51% winrate below 50 games.

Also, Irelia doesn't win laning against many champs. She has powerspikes, but she is not a champion that consistently wins lane by any means. Same with Blitz.

The point is, there always has, and always will be champions that are designed to win lane. Jayce is one of those with a 51% win rate. He's perfectly balanced. Prior to the patch he was buffed in, he was played by Dyrus and a few others a handful of times using sunfire/frozen fist build.

He may be balanced, but he is still very painful to deal with at most stages of the game. Early game, he can poke and then gapclose with his Q, AA for the extra damage his R provides, and then knock back the opposing laner, making it difficult for the opposing laner to punish what is mostly a ranged champion for getting into melee form. In addition, his poke is very devastating, and he just goes straight armor pen, meaning he can shred both tanks and squishies with ease. His damage does fall off a little bit late game, but the real reason he falls off, from what I've seen, is because he is very squishy, even with defensive items. This means that if he does mess up in the late game, he will probably die. I also think that the two little buffs that Riot gave him are very indicative of how hard he is to balance. (with two small buffs he went from being a "meh" champion in terms of power to one of the most dominant champions in the game). There is no in between for him.

Two buffs were ratio on passive AA changed from AP to AD and E on all ranks the same mana cost afaik. That ratio isn't even too big(0,2-0,3? i think? ). He has always been like this people just forgot about him tbh.

Two MINUSCULE buffs, and he shoots from the bottom of the pack to God Tier.

Its more that people realized he didn't need to go Tear if you don't spam E+Q in cannon stance. Armor Pen being the go-to AD option atm made this far more potent of a meta change for him.

E dealing 20% of max health. 20% of MAX HEALTH. #balanced

At rank 5. And he doesn't max it first. Ever. If you have 3k health, his E is only dealing 240 damage until level 13+. Before resistances.

Again, his late game isn't the issue. E only becomes a factor late-game.

It's the Last spell to max playing Jayce and till late game it is not better than Aa. His E is not problem, The problem is that he can in his power pike even not fed kill enemy adc with Q on cannon + Q on Hammer and Aa, still having a lot in his kit.

I'd like to say remove his hammer stance until 6. But that thing is so hardly used would it even matter?

Actually Hammer Form is a big reason why Jayce is strong in lane. If a melee champion ever tries to go aggressive on him, that champion just gets chunked by, at the very least, enhanced AA>E, and at absolute worst ranged EQ>W>enhanced AA>AA>AA>melee Q>E, which probably just nets Jayce a kill in the span of about a second. Furthermore, much of Jayce's mana sustain comes from his hammer form, in particular his hammer W passive.

Later on, however, it's not used much outside of farming minions and regenerating mana.

so basically, outside of mana regen and melee countering, it serves little practical use, meaning in the majority of his matchups in lane, it is pretty much the textbook definition of a luxury? See thing is, Jayce could be pretty comfy still without that hammer form until 6, he genuinely doesn't need it level 1

And people used to think Jayce was the only skirmisher / skirmisher hybrid that wasn't frustrating. : ^ )
