Just to be clear, is RIOT aware of what a major buff to Fighters they're pushing in 5.8?

I mean, I want word that this is intentional.

I wanna hear a Rioter say, either on some forums or in the 5.8 patch notes, that they are aware of what a potentially large buff this Black Cleaver and Randuins update is to Fighters, particularly since many Fighters are already overbearing (not as much as CinderSej, but still overbearing), and these are going to pump up pretty much every fighter champion in the game by a lot.

I just don't want to see, a few weeks from now, RIOT saying they didn't "know" or didn't "expect" this to happen when all the sudden a bunch of Fighters start wrecking more face than they already do.

You guys excited for Rek'Sai, Irelia, and Vi to rip you a new asshole with only one sort've damage item and a "tank" item? Gonna be a good ol' time.

Just seems weird to push two major item boosts for the class ya'll claim "isn't well-defined" and is traditionally the hardest to balance on a per-champion basis due to their itemization flexibility. The long-pretended "Fighter Rework" exists for that reason. I'm not saying other classes can't use these new items, just that the "Fighter" class wants them wayyyyy more than anyone else, and that's not necessarily a good thing.

many, MANY fighters have zero issue "getting into melee range". It's literally been years since that was a solid defense for fighters.

No, it is still a major argument that applies to the majority of bruisers outside of bronze.

You're either playing the wrong fighters or playing them horribly. I don't really have an answer for you.

Pick up Vi. Or Rek'Sai. Or Lee Sin.

If you still can't get on top of your target "without blowing everything to get into melee range", frankly you're the problem. It has nothing to do with the champion at that point. I mean, that sounds mean, but there's no other way to put it: They have plenty of tools at their disposal to get to and keep on top of a target. If you can't use those tools, it doesn't mean the champion doesn't have them, it means you can't play the game.

Some old fighters, like perhaps Nasus or Garen, have trouble getting on a target, but they're both tanks more than fighters, they just have high damage for a Tank. If you wanna easily "get on top of" the high-priority target and kill them, you're outright playing the wrong class. You should be playing an assassin.

That's a large part of why Fighters should even exist: They all think they should have the damage output and sticking power to knock out whoever they want, while also being too bulky to take down without considerable focus. Frankly, that just displays a major disinterest in anything close to game balance, and an unwillingness to recognize that class design is a problem. Either be too tanky to kill quickly, or a major damage threat, or unescapable. You don't get to have all those traits and then whine about how you're mediocre at all of them. That's the tradeoff you make. You pick two (again, unless you're Lee Sin, Vi, or Rek'sai).

I play fighter/junglers main, and I'm legitimately concerned about this, too. It could range from harmless to a nightmare, but the potential is there. The offensive capability of Randuin's Omen strikes me as very weird. It's supposed to be a defensive item.

Regardless, I'm gonna use it until they nerf it, but if I had to guess I think they'll have to scale it back.

I think their defining Randuin's as a little more offensive item rather that defensive, right now most Tanks would prefer Frozen Heart for the Cooldown and Mana. And this works for true tanks because they have defenses on their abilities. (aside from their crowd control.)

Over all, the Randuin's omen changes will favor team fighting since it's effect increases with more champions hit. This is obviously something most Bruiser/carry toplaners lack. Though it's shouldn't over shadow the Teamfighting of true tanks.

As for cleaver, riot mentioned that it's new design is meant for tank busting. Obviously designed for Bruiser who want health on the side, Though it's not going to over shadow the ADC's tank busting ability. The real trick in balance is making sure it does not, over shadow other Bruiser items. If it's good for Tank busting, you should buy it for the tank busting, and probably shouldn't be a general use item.

Has anyone responding to this thread actually played with the gear on PBE that can post some facts or is this just a fear mongering thread?

Quick heads-up, the Randuin's change just got reverted on the PBE. It won't be out in 5.8.

In case you haven't noticed, Riot doesn't admit to any mistakes, potential or otherwise. If you want balance, play Smite or HotS. Riot gave up on the idea of fair gameplay a long time ago.

Fighters are champs like AAtrox, Fiora, and Yi. They are AA attack carries with AA boosting steroids in thier kits, and the only difference between them and ADC's are the fact that they are Melee. They are almost always built as glass cannons.

Vi, Rek'Sai, Jax, and Xin are Bruisers. They are a mix of AA and spell reliant off-tanks that have CC instead of AA steroids built into their kit. They will usually build one or two tanky items to peel for teammates and survive a dive into the back-line carries.
