If he has 1.0 attack speed, let's say (people will probably get more) He does about 875 (+whatever % AP ratio) magic damage with his ult, and people will be building armor against him, not magic resist, so..

this is also an ultimate that gives him on-hit damage that still doesn't compare to the DPS other on-hit champs will be able to put out

and he's not going to build magic pen so the 1 or 2 MR items you do build against his team's AP carry is going to make his ult do negligible damage.
