Any Off Meta Supports that Work?

Every time I go to look up the best Supports, they're the usual: AlistarBlitzcrankBraumJannaLuluMorganaNamiSonaSoraka Thresh

The ones I think are common for Support but are struggling because of the meta are: BardBrandLeonaLuxNautilusOriannaPoppyTahmKenchShenVolibear

Whether or not you agree with my list, these are the Supports I often see in my Ranked games. However, I noticed a certain champion that's Off Meta but making champions like Jhin extremely difficult to fight against .... and the champion I speak of is Karma.

Haven't seen much of her until last 2 patches ago. Her kit seems perfect for Jihn, and even though she works well with other ADCs ... the duo I struggle fighting against the most regardless of what me and my ADC are playing is Jihn + Karma. So it got me thinking, are there any other Off Meta Supports that work really well for bot lane?

Someone told me that Trundle works, and I can see why ... but need clarification / more gameplay with the guy before I can decide if he's good or not. I'm not just talking about how I play him, but how other people play him from Gold rank to Diamond+ ranked games. If you guys could give me suggestions and what Off Meta Support (or heck, whatever champion regardless of Meta) works best with what ADC, I would truly appreciate it.

The off meta supports you listed work extremely well and don't struggle at all. Annie is a good/annoying/cancerous support that just waits in the brush until the adc walks by and stuns them then kills them with tibbers ;-;

You forgot Elise support, since in korea has seen more play and higher winrate than sona before her recent changes. I think it appeared in one LCS game during 2015 as well. Elise + Kalista is pretty destructive in higher elo.

Funny story- I fought 2 Elise's before in my Ranked history. Both did pretty bad, never doing well enough to kite for their ADC. That isn't to say they were bad players- oh no, just I haven't seen Elise work well as a Support in person. But I have seen her in Diamond Play on Youtube or other sources, as a Support. They're scary if they are in total sync with the ADC, so perhaps that is why the two I faced were struggling hard.

Yea, Elise support requires a lot of percision to work well, most people that play it are often one tricks or challenger where their ADCs preform well with follow ups.

Elise has a high skillcap+support knowledge required (we all know bronze supports and silver supports are very different) as well as requiring the ADC to know how to synergize and work with an Elise support, which due to their rarity, they have no idea what to think.

I've done it a couple times in ranked, and occasionally in customs and norms whenever I have to support, and I will say a lot of plays can be made but more often than not, my ADCs only do well with me if they're mobile: Ezreal Lucian Kalista

I wouldn't try this in ranked games, but I think a fun off meta support champion you want to try out is Syndra

If she doesn't suit your style, try Annie support.

I used to play Ryze support back in the day but not sure if it is less/more viable now. Warwick support can be awesome once you hit level 6 and all in. I also once played with a godlike LeeSin support which was pretty neat to see.

Karma is a poke support champ and those are countered by thresh, nautilus, and blitz crank (any of the hook supports) If karma tries to walk up and q you hook and your adc should get the kill as karma is fairly squishy. If for some reason you can't get a hook champ Braum can do somewhat well against Jhin and karma combo.

Karma isn't off meta. You forgot about Zyra, who works fine in the current meta.

I play Zyra, who is at this point off-meta, and I see a lot more Karma's than Zyra's. (I play a lot of blind, so it's not due to me picking the champ.)

Trundle is exceedingly common in pro play. He's harder to use in solo queue.

An off meta support for Normals with friends only is Jhin.

He makes a fun poke support who can actually double as a secondary carry by making effective use of little offense stats.

item 3092 or item 3069 for a gold generating support item. Frost Queens if you plan on being very aggressively poking the enemy laners. Talisman if you have a carry with effective wave clear.

item 3050 50% critical strike chance for you and your carry is amazing. If you then go for AP Jhin as well this is pretty impressive.

item 3151 I actually really like this item on support Jhin because his W applies single target spell effects and slows. You can literally poke and burn enemies out of lane, or if they don't respect your damage, you will set them up to get one shot as soon as they get in range of you and your carry.

Again, just fun, not great.

Chogath Support is one of my favorite things to pull out of nowhere. Silence-Rupture combo can set up picks for your adc or jungler, and your R can either turn a skirmish around or outright end someone who doesn't respect it.

You can go Relic Shield or Ancient Coin, rush ROA, then go tanky support with Crucible, Locket, Randuin's, or whatever else the team needs.

Trundle heavily depends on the match-up.

He's good against: Leona, Nautilus, Blitzcrank, Alistar, Braum, pretty much anything that has hard engage with low sustain.

He struggle against: Sona, Bard, Nami, Karma, Lulu, Janna pretty much anything with high sustain and range poke.

The whole point of Trundle is to: Walk in, chomp, club, run out, regen, repeat. He denies heavy engage with a single pillar and is amazing against jungle ganks because of it and his sheer damage when being engaged.

Also, Malphite is also nice at support.

Sion Maokai Gragas are pretty good.

Galio + Kalista can be nasty.

The thing with off-meta supports is they can be extremely viable, but only in certain situations/match ups.
