I'm actually a little interested since I only ever play him mid, what makes him so great outside of being able to poke the melee champs? Are his builds different than his mid playstyle? I've been trying to keep to Mid, but to no avail. so I have to ask, what makes Top Lane Karthus so viable? I'm especially curious since most of the things he generally uses have been nerfed over time (DFT, Rylai's, I guess Zhonya's?), so I'm honestly dumbfounded as to how he's doing so well, and I like to say I'm a Karthus main myself :<

also assassins and burst mages are popular mid and those are a real bitch for him

I aint a karthus main but i think its just because top lane has just 1 possible way to gank (Diving isnt always a good chocie ) Karthus and Tp and it make him to a pretty lane bully And you got an global Ult to Kill the remaining enemys or damage them enought or that your allies can take the kills.

Global pressure toplaner that wreaks havoc in teamfights and can farm up relatively safely. And even if he gets ganked successfully, he can clear the wave while dead. And has tp to be back in time. Meanwhile the jungle isn't ganking bot or taking dragon. Whatever happens, he has a favorable win condition in most situations.

Also, there has to be like 5 people playing Karthus top, and I'm pretty sure they played him before.

Long range. Hard to gank. Hard to tower dive without feeding him. Can push incredibly fast. Scales hard. Global ult.

And if shit goes terribly wrong, he's good at suicide pushing into the enemy tower like proxy Singed does in order to force people to come stop him.

dont it is been slowly becoming more and more unreliable.

Phreak in is patch notes review of 7.2 is saying to use the site i listed. According to his video they have the best tracking/ageration of data. He actually mentions champion.gg has being wrong.

great nameless rioter, that may or may not have a job using data points.

At least Phreak is supposed to be looking at data points and using them in his job.

Champion.gg was good untill the end of season 6. They still have 7.1 data up as of right now and has karthus as best top laner with win rate of 56%. When no other tracker is making those claims.

Champion.gg is dead

Mid lane is so attractive to assassin's because being in the middle of the map it's easy to roam. Karthus doesn't have any mobility, so he doesn't roam relatively well and is easy to gank if he's pushed up.

build catalyst and you never have to leave lane ult to still be useful from the other side of the map counterpick him into melee matchups who he can harass while he's farming simultaneously i don't think he's good to main in top lane since he screws up your team's comp and if you pick him early the enemy can pick someone who will just kill him every time he gets too far from his tower in the long lane.
