Tank Veigar makes sense though, because like Nasus he has innate damage scaling in his kit. I would say that Veigar's best build is not full damage, because item 3089 item 3116 and then tank gives him good enough damage and utility while still being a tanky beast. Even if I don't go for that to begin with, I will basically sell all my AP items and replace them with tank items as the game goes on because he needs survivability more than he needs AP over 1000.

Tank veigar you just substitue the 4 items after rabadons and void staff. You still want void staff more than any other single item :-)

This is my build: Veigar item 3110 item 3065 item 3158 item 3135 item 3030 item 3742 or Veigar item 3020 item 3083

You need item 3135 to deal with MR and I like to get item 3030 for Mana, Catalyst passive + added utility 40% CDR is a must for stacking and for the extra stun uptime

Hmm...I do it a bit in reverse. I get defensive items and pick up Rabadon's Deathcap as like my only AP item. Depends though...if I'm our team's APC then I might be more aggressive with the AP purchasing and of course sometimes I'll get a Void Staff rather than another defensive item.

The high base damage and the reliability of the E makes it pretty decent to center the build around. I love playing tank Karthus. People underestimate his sustained damage in teamfights. Just a bit of MPen, some speed, and lots of defenses... what a fun time.
