I'm currently learning top lane right now and I'm having a lot of trouble playing against Sett. I played against him a few times and lost lane every time. Both on Akali and Ryze.
So, what are some things I need to know to play against him better? I know his kit, but I am not sure what are the windows that I go in on. He seems to win any trade I try on him.
Just make sure you walk around him when he W's. Its slow enough that you can do this most of the time.
W is 90% of his damage.
Step 1: Ban sett Step 2: Wait until nerfs Set 3 (optional) : Wait for more nerfs.
True damage isn't fun.
People are going to chime in with all of his "clear weaknesses". But, in all honesty, unless he is being piloted by a complete dumb ass, you aren't going to kill him by yourself. And you'll find difficulty taking him out even with allies collapsing on him.
His whole kit is "Don't come near me or you die". And whenever his flash is up, someone will die.
I've seen him dominate every match up in jungle and top.
When dealing with a champion like Sett, your job is to avoid getting touched by him and focus on eliminating his allies instead.
Just take short trades into him. Doing that makes it hard for him to max out Grit, meaning even if he hits you with it, its not going to dent you. Akali's pretty simple if you use the movespeed you get from passive and W right. If you cant really handle that timing, then just E in a direction that keeps you away from the center line of his W.
lol I can't even successfully win lane against a sett piloted by a class A dumbass when I'm playing ranged.
I am pretty shit at playing ranged champs tho. Udyr mains be like.
Dodge his W's and if you're low on health, don't stay near your tower because I will tower dive you. Go for short trades and when he uses W, you go in and run away after around 8 seconds. Um, 8 seconds is his max W cooldown.
