Do you guys feel like watching pro-gameplay helps you improve?

I like to watch guys like Gosu and Best Riven NA/BoxBox to help improve my playing skills, but many of my friends say there is no real substitute for practice and application of my own skills. Does watching clips help you guys improve?

Well,

Tried watching Azir videos from Faker and stuff. All I saw was lines and triangles. Lol.

But yes, it helps in CS, behaviour (like how you should keep a soldier between the enemy and your minions), and aggression.

To an extent, but when you try to pull of what pro's pull off, without learning why they're doing what they're doing, it puts you behind. xd

Yes. I would only use ziggs ult for my own gain and not even to farm. After i saw xiaoweixiao play ziggs, i realized i need to ult other lanes and clear out farm at my turret lol

Yes & no as different people have different learning styles & methods. Yes it can if you're not familiar with map-warding & vision-control. Does not really help after a certain point as improvement then becomes a field-of-study. Knowledge of composition-strengths & weaknesses will auto-win half your battles.

Yes and no.

If i was to watch someone else in higher elo play tristana.. I'm sure they'd find many ways to use her abilities better. Sure Some of it I can take and granted if a situation presents itself I will try. Sometimes it works. sometimes na... Helps me to really think of more possibilities.

But watching pro-plays tend to sway my bronzie bretherin into doing some.. less then questionable things...

I don't really watch pro plays, but I was guides on youtube to get to know a champion better before I take them into normal games to practice.

Nope. It doesn't help me improve at all. It does remind me that I'm a scrub, though.

Do you think watching someone do their homework is a good way to learn?

Exactly. It only helps if you don't know where to start or unaware of certain aspect, otherwise it won't do much.

Not to mention pros have done nothing other than making LoL a balance mess, as well as promoting the wrong definition of "skill". Stay away from them.

For me its a combination of watching pros/ high elo players and looking up guides online. That being said I usually try to watch people who teach you about what they are doing, how the champion works, and why they are doing what they do. Watching someone play and not understand the decisions they make wont get you very far.

I don't know. I guess it might, as it could give you insight and new ways to use your favorite champions.

But in the long run? No.

A lot of people compare e-sports and athletic sports and claim they're the same. Which you may or may not agree with.

But then, does watching soccer/basketball/football players make you a better player? Not really.

Same goes for League, imo.
